This style can truly be considered the classic American work shoe. In the early 1900s, when Red Wing Shoe Company first began to service rural America, this style of shoe became vastly popular across the country. Versatile and reliable, it was used in farm fields and blacksmith workshops during the day before being cleaned and shined up for a night out on the town. It was the all-purpose shoe for many years in many industries. Today, the Blacksmith is built using premium Red Wing leathers and a durable Vibram 430 Mini-lug sole. The extra height of this six-inch style keeps out snow in the winter and dirt in the summer, while the classic construction keeps feet comfortable even after long hours of work. Care Instructions: For Light Cleaning: Use warm water and a soft bristle brush to remove stuck-on dirt. Then use a clean, dry cloth to wipe away any remaining excess dirt. For Deep Cleaning: For heavily soiled areas, use a clean cloth or brush to apply Red Wing Shoes Leather Cleaner. Wipe the cleaner away with a damp cloth and allow the leather to dry. For Conditioning: Proper conditioning helps preserve the finish and life of your footwear. Use Red Wing's All Natural Boot Oil, Mink Oil or All Natural Leather Conditioner. You can apply these conditioners with your fingers, soft cloth or sponge. Below, you will find the recommended conditioner to use with each of our Red Wing leathers. To Protect: Add extra protection to preserve your footwear. Red Wing Leather Protector provides an invisible shield from water, dirt, oil and mud. This leather is water, stain and perspiration resistan

Great quality, but feels like walking on a wooden block. No in-sole
Let me first start by saying I have been on an long search for the perfect boot/shoe. I ordered the Red Wing Heritage solely based on the fact that the shoe looks stunning, and the history and "Red Wing" name to back it up made it an easy decision.I pulled the shoe out of the box and before taking it out I could smell the fresh leather. It's obviously genuine material and quality leather. You can not deny the quality. The shoe was a bit heavy and stiff, however being brand new I figured as much. Now for the complaint..My single biggest complaint on this shoe is the fact that there is no in-sole built in to the shoe. I understand that it is leather and needs to be broken in and based on what I've read a real genuine leather boot will not have an in-sole. The problem is, it just makes for a very uncomfortable shoe. I assumed the hard impact and discomfort of stepping in this shoe was due to it needing to be broken in, but after a month of every day wear I pretty much give up. I really just wish they would have included an in-sole. It's no question the quality of the boot is un-matched, but if you can't walk around in them what is the point? Even after a month I feel like I'm walking on a wooden block...

Great boots after a week of break-in pain
I normally wear a size 13, but ordered one size down as is suggested and though the initial fit was slightly snug, it was not uncomfortable, and there was plenty of room in the toe box to wiggle my toes. Not quite enough room for an insole, I discovered, but thicker socks do just fine for added comfort. After a few days of breaking them in over 20 miles, I can almost forget I'm wearing them, except for the reminder of some bruising on one of my big toes where the upper toe box crease hasn't formed yet. Almost there.I have only two minor issues with these boots: The first is that they arrived out of the box with a large smear of shoe glue stuck to the leather which I had to spend about 10 minutes trying to scrape off without damaging it. And two, the length of the boot tongues don't match; the right boot tongue is almost a whole inch longer than the left. For many people this manufacturing defect would be enough to warrant a return, but since I almost always wear my jeans over my boots, I think I can live with the goofy asymmetry. I understand that these are hand-made in the USA, and that human variances are to be expected, but for $300 you would at least expect the leather to be cut from the same templates and thus the tongue lengths to be nearly equal.

Awesome boots
UPDATE 5/26/18:Shoe lace finally broke on left boot. Wasn't kidding about the waxiness mentioned previously. Not the best shoelaces. BUT replacement shoelaces are an easy remedy. The boots (though I need to polish them again) are still holding up and are probably at their most comfortable right now; the leather has formed around my feet really well after near-daily wear since first purchased. I still would recommend these boots.ORIGINAL:These boots are great. They fit just as expected. Really stiff when you first get them but, once they wear in, they form quite comfortably. Pretty good quality craftsmanship, except the shoelaces are really waxy, somewhat short, and overall tough to keep tied securely. I'm looking forward to these lasting and me not having to buy a new pair of footwear for a long while. Worth investing in. Note: photos I've attached are about a week into daily wear.

Amazing boots!
Ordered a Full size down and the fit is absolutely perfect! Awesome work boots and have even took these hiking with no issues on light rocky terrain. These are now my everyday foot wear...... The leather is rough out or redwings Spitfire, I can say if I could reorder these I would have gone with the smooth leather. The reason I opted for the spitfire is the ability to treat them with anything. Bees wax, oilskin mixture etc. I treated them recently with duck back dressing and it worked perfect! The break in is a little intense but well worth the discomfort at first. After a few weeks they are a pleasure and comfort to wear. They form to the foot well and look sharp even after a long day of work.Being my first pair of redwings and can honestly say it will not be my last!

Great boots! A bit lighter in color than expected.
Like most red wings they run one half size larger. I ordered the briar oil slick...I'll be honest I was expecting a dark, rich, reddish brown but when I opened the box they were a bit spotty and lighter than expected. Not a big deal though, I used a light coat of Red Wings leather conditioner and it brought out all those deep reds you see. The leather is surprisingly supple compared to my Iron Rangers and the sole felt a bit cushiony as well. First day I wore them it was walking around in downtown Disney and not a single blister to speak of. Love these boots and can't wait to watch them age. Highly recommend! The photo shoes the boots coloration before (on top) and after the conditioning (on the bottom)

Great boot. Try to test fit if you can in a store.
Great boot. Standard width is not great for wide footers or those intent on wearing thick wool sock(which we all should be). Toe box is roomy just that width was narrow. Had to improvise on stretching them to fit. Love to copper color. I got the boot cream which does not darken at all. The Bick 4 conditioner does not darken these as well and is the better option than the Red Wing brand. These are very comfy after breaking them in. I do suggest that if you are able to, go to the store and try these on first.

Great shoes. Excellent craftsmanship and first class leather quality. I am normally wearing size 11 and size 10,5 fits me perfectly. The boots are a bit narrow as well, hoping that after brake in they will take a perfect form as advised. One have to keep in mind that these boots are not water proof either.

Make sure to order smaller
The boots are great, but run large, so ensure you drop 1/2 - 1 size compared to normal.

Great service provided
Great service provided, product is excellent. Had to return for downsize; I am a UK 7 but these boots are so long I felt like I was wearing clown shoes. I'd round down on boot size if you're not sure.
