Absolutely Dependable Ale Yeast -- Good Price
I brew mostly British-style ales, from Irish Red to Pumpkin ale to various stouts and IPAs. I order kits that include grains, liquid and dry malt, and yeast. The yeast is an add-on to each kit, so it is priced separately. It is usually this type of packaged yeast, although there are others that are a little different. That company charges $5 for one of these yeast packs. I just bought 3 for about $10.50, no tax charged. That's $3.50 each, and I got free shipping by adding a few more things. Bottom line: this is exactly the same yeast I'd get from my brewer supply company, so I can't say it's "better," but it does save me $1.50 per pack, which adds up over time and is worth it. I've found I can use the Safale 5 in place of any other yeast, with great and consistent results -- robust and consistent yeast infusion of the wort, and excellent taste of the finished ales etc.The product description is a little hard to understand: you do get three sealed packs of this yeast for the price.Recommended.

Good temperature range, great performing yeast
I researched a lot of different yeasts and the Safale US-05 seems to be well liked. Most home brewers highly praise this yeast. I decided to try it because the summer temperatures where I live can make my home warm at times. Temperatures can range from the high 60s at night to high 70s in the day time even with the cooler on and using the "wet T-shirt over the fementer" method. This yeast performed well, producing excellent batches of ale, even with those less than ideal conditions. What I really liked::(1) It has a good temperature range 53.6 F - 77 F(2) Long expiration date, I purchased in June of 2016; the expiration date was Feb 2018(3) Good price, less than $10 for 3 packs(4) The beers I've brewed with it have turned out great.I can now say I'm one of those home brewers that really like Safale US-05 yeast for brewing ale and I've heard it also makes great hard apple cider; I'm going to give that a try too.

My go to yeast for american style ales.
Cheapest yeast to have on hand when making most any american style ale. Attenuation was good, flavor is excellent. Top fermented and harvested enough yeast from last batch for a few more brews.

Best multipurpose yeast
I've used this as my go to yeast for over 8 years. I've fermented it as low as 60° to as high as 80°. I always keep a few packs around just in case I decide to brew something on a wim. I've never did a yeast stater with it and probably never will. It handles 8% ipas like a champ.

Gets the job done well
I've been trying to find a good yeast for a while. I don't really want to bother with keeping multiple strains, as I don't think yeast has all that important an effect on taste (sue me!).This will probably be my go-to for the forseeable future. Extremely clean, no off flavors, flocculated out within a week. Works at reasonable temperatures as well. My house is perpetually around 77F here in South Florida, and that's just about the upper limit for this strain. I've tried yeasts that work at higher temperatures, but they produce a ton of sulfide gas. Not here.Usually my fermentations have a certain smell about them, because of the relatively high temperature they're fermented at, but I gave the airlock of my latest beer with this guy a whiff every day and was surprised it just smelled like beer. Awesome.

New favorite
I had been using liquid yeast, but my last batch failed on me so I decided to switch to dry. Already used on two batches that have turned out great. I think this might be my new favorite, go-to yeast. Also picked up some of the 04 for comparison. I did re-hydrate in boiled then cooled water for both batches and they took off within 8 hours. I know there was some concern over date. I purchased in April 2020 and both sets (05 and 04) show a 2022 expiration date.
