Mi 3C Router (White, Not a Modem)

Let's admit it - choosing routers can be really challenging task for anyone. You see conflicting reviews about router range, about advertised vs real world performance, about reliability and so on and so forth. It's all the more confusing! Golden Tip: Experts always say that all purchases boil down to 'Your requirements' and their fulfilment. If you have a product that ticks your boxes, and if you have a realistic and well informed expectation from it - you'll always be a happy consumer - like I am.Cutting to the chase:BUILD AND FINISH:The Mi3C router is a testament to Chinese manufacturing excellence. For the price and well beyond, you'd be hard pressed to find a better designed and constructed product. The use of Matte white plastic in a sleek housing is just gorgeous to look at and looks sturdy.EASE OF SETUP/INTERFACE:The router can be setup using the Mi-Wifi App or using the admin console via your web browser. The router firmware - MiWifi OS - is based on the Openwrt code and is very intuitive and easy to use. I got mine up and running in under 10 minutes; in case you're using the web console you need to know the settings well however. The MiWifi app is a much easier way to set things up.PERFORMANCE:I was able to get peak bandwidth of 10Mbps on each of the 4 devices connected to the router in parallel - which is impressive to say the least. Do remember, a 2.4 Ghz connection is more than sufficient for ISP connections of up to 50 Mbps. 2.4Ghz also has much longer range compared to the 5Ghz spectrum.In terms of range, the router easily outclassed my earlier Netgear WNR 614. I checked this personally with mobiles and laptops across my 1200 Sq Ft flat and even upstairs - across walls and floors - all good!For those who fall for the advertised 80 Meter range, and then complain about it; sadly you've all fallen for the oldest art in the world - Marketing!That range does not take into account multiple walls, your neighbors 2.4Ghz Wifi connection and even your 2.4Ghz wireless keyboard and mouse - all of which create huge disruptions to your cherished network!Do Note the following hygiene issues (Applies to any router for protecting your internet connection access and time and money!):1. Connecting the router via an Android App gives it permission to access the router as a remote administrator. Remote Access is very convenient, but globally Cyber Security experts advise against the practice since it can be a huge security risk. Do research online.2. Please also disable the UpNp setting in the 'additional' settings menu. It's widely considered to be an Open Door for letting hackers in and is a function you won't be using 99% of the time.3. In case of the Mi Router - disable QoS allocation (it's most likely disabled by default) in case you have any bandwith restriction issues across devices and double check on the 'Wall Penetration" Mode being enabled for maximum range.Hope this helps dear friends. This budget router is among the best out there.To start of lets talk about range. The range is more than average with occasional drops in signal. This could be due to the very crowded 2.4 GHz band. I use this in 1 bhk house of about 500 sqft and still can get a good signal strength.The setup for this router is easy too and all can be done on the pc and afterwards, can be controlled by the mobile app which by the way is an absolute delight. You can control each and every connected device through the app. The bandwidth, firewall setting,QoS(controlling the priority i.e. of the video streaming should be the priority) etc can be controlled through app.The look of the router is amazing too. The full white built gives it a very classy look and it looks great as an accessory in any room of the house.Now the thing that I don't like about this is that despite the four antennae, the range of the signal is not upto the mark. It is not bad by any means but with four antennae i expected a bit more. This can be easily adjusted in the app where signal strength can be adjusted by changing the settings.I wish it had a 5 ghz option but one can't expect more at this priceFinal verdict, this is a great router for its price and one should definitely go for it if you want a good performing and more than average range router at this price. But if you can spend more go for a 5 GHz routers or better a dual one. But if not this is a great option.

Router is really nice....Specially wall penetration feature. But it is not so great in range. As i have 3 floors in my house. The coverage is only within first two floors only. But you can not expect everything in budget two antenna MI product under 1000RS . MI has evolved in a very good way in india. However it still lacks in some major areas and issues still persist but guess what they are improving rapidly. MI gives pro level features in low cost. Also i haven't heard of any router that gives two antenna under such price. By the way it is really nice product. GO FOR IT !!!!!!!I do not write this review on basis of Chinese or Indian product. This is real experience as i have used MI smartphone and Router and find them efficient. So don't Judge on the basis of it in a negative way. Mi 3C Router (White)

Design- Very sleek and lightweight. Feels and looks premium. Four antennas to go with it which greatly increase range (more below)Installation - VERY easy to setup, thanks to the Mi WiFi app. All the connection settings can be made through the app itselfProduct - Probably one of the best routers I've used. Can be used as a standalone router or as a WiFi repeater (range extender ). I used it in repeater mode and boy was I impressed.I placed it in the balcony outside my house on the first floor(weird location to place a router, I know), but surprisingly the router reached ALL of the first floor in every room penetrating atleast 2 walls. Moreover the router reached almost all of the ground floor too, which my previous router couldn't even dream of. No issue with net speeds tooTip - Place both the extreme right and extreme left antennas normally (90° ) and place the middle two antennas, one at 45° and one at 180°.This will considerably increase range specially if you want the router to work through different floors of your house (like I did)Verdict - This is as good as it gets. Period.Great quality, good looks, awesome range. Just the right price.Although, I wish mi had included a modem integrated with the router so people wouldnt have to plug in a seperate modem ( Although not important for people using it as a repeater)Those who need a standalone router (not modem) or a repeater, just blindly go for it :)
