Solid, well priced scope
This scope is mated to a Remington 700 in 7mm Rem Mag and is intended for longer ranges (+400 yds). So far the scope has performed flawlessly. The optics are clear and the light gathering has been very good, even under heavy overcast conditions. The BDC will take some getting used to but the concept is simple and therefore solid for use in the field.

Great Low Light Scope
I was researching scopes for a week and was disappointed at the quality of all the scopes that were priced around 200-300 dollars. If you wanted a great scope with awesome optics you needed to pay 500+ or settle for one of the other brands that come close to being great. But you dont need to settle with this scope. The NIKON brand says it all. The scope is a tough little scope. Built well, solid feeling. The controls are perfect with positive click feedback with every minute of angle change. The use of a coin to reset to zero is a nice touch. Any scope that offers reticular focus is typically really expensive, but not this scope. The best part ... The optics are crisp from 4.5x to 14x and really really bright, feels like a 52mm instead of the 40mm. The eye relief is almost too generous, nearing 4 inches, and the image fills the entire exit pupil edge to edge. The cross hairs are thick as well. No need for additional lighting of the reticle at dusk or dawn.I would buy this scope for all my firearms I use for 50-100 Yard sighting. You will not be disappointed.

not as clear as much lower end optics
I put this on a .300wsm and I have no evidence of it moving after shooting several boxes of ammo through the gun. Shot a buck in the neck at 100 yds. It was dead. Not sure how much more you could ask for. Will try for 200+ yd shots this year and update as necessary.Update: I tried out some other guys scopes. Bushnell cheapos. They were clearer than my Nikon Buckmaster. I have a UTG 4x scope on my pellet gun that appears to have clearer glass than my Buckmaster. Yes, it holds zero well but I'm highly disappointed with the clarity.Maybe its a warranty issue?

Worth every penny
We have this on our Ruger American 30-06 for 6 months now. After my wife and I dialed it in and set the turrets to zero, it has remained zeroed after 1000 rounds at the range from winter to summer. My wife is new to this and is now punching holes out to 300 yards in 2" grouping and can make a smiley face at any distance. The clarity of the glass is excellent and we like the parallax for long distance. I put a little blue thread locker on the scope mount to secure it to the base because of the kick of the rifle and it has stayed in place. I wasn't sure it would hold up to the kick of the 30-06 rifle over time but as of now it is still dead on accurate. We also like the Nikon Spot-On program for ballistics but rarely use it but it's nice to know you can. We like this scope so much that we just bought the same scope in Mildot for our AR. Nikon scopes make you want to shoot more and are definitely worth the money.

Excellent quality scope
I love this scope. Had a budget of $300 and after a lot of research I had it narrowed down to the Buckmasters 4.5 - 14X or a Monarch 2 - 8X. Chose this one because I wanted the magnification to shoot at greater distances.I mounted it on my brand new Weatherby Vanguard .223 as a medium range small game rifle combo. Bought aluminum Talley rings to go with it. Took it out, zeroed it, and shot a 5 shot, .75" group at 100 yards. Click adjustments are tight and solid, and it has held zero perfectly. Set it, put the covers back on the turrets, and forget about it. Eye relief is good. The sight picture is very clear and bright with no distortion around the edges. I love the BDC reticle, but have yet to use it for shots past 100 yards. Cons are that the zoom ring is fairly stiff and requires a lot of rotation; and the scope design is not for the tactical, dial-in each shot type of shooter. If you are a holdover kind of person like me, get this scope with the BDC reticle and you will not be disappointed.

Not recommended!
Bought the scope for my .270wsm rifle. In the contrary of all of these reviews, The reticle is not clear at all, in 50yards, it's OK! But after 50 yard neither the reticle nor the lens is clear. I spent about two hours focusing the scope and afjusting its parallax but it didnt work at all. Btw im not an amateur shooter. I have at least 13 years of experience in long range rife shooting competitions and ive tried different types of scopes. This scope does not have the expected quality. Because of all this reasons, i returned it the same day, and bought a leupold vx3. It was twice the price but the quality is twice better than this scope, too! I also have trijicon accupoint on my 7mm magnum, and it's amazing. I will never ever buy nikons. I spend more money, but i enjoy my scope quality!

I love it!!
After owning this scope for 2 years and using it for two deer seasons, it impressed me enough to write a review. I mounted it on my .300 Weatherby Vanguard for big game. The clarity and quality of the scope are outstanding. What impressed me the most about the scope is the BDC reticle. If you go to nikonhunting.com and launch spot on you can print off a sheet customed to your rifle and the ammunition you shoot.however, I didn't want to just trust the program and wanted to do my own homework with the BDC, but at $5.00 a round that is quite costly. I decided to just trust the program and the cheat sheet. I was able to make a perfect shot on a deer at 400 yards. With no homework!!! The BDC takes out all of the guess work. If you are on the fence, just buy it. For the price it can not be beat.
