The best Album they did, recall watching the concert on Whistle Test special back in the day, had the vinyl as soon as possible after and simply needed a copy for in the car.

This is the fourth Doobie Brothers SACD I have picked up. I have been very impressed with the Music and the mastering. This one lacks a little of the bass the other three have had but it still great remastering. The album includes such classics as Black Water but also great LP tracks such as Road Angel. This album was pre Mike MacDonald so the band if rockin'. No offense to Mr. macDonald but I do feel he watered down their sound. I know they had a lot of hits with him but it was a little to MOR for me. As far as this SACD goes I could not be happier (well except for maybe a little more bass). It has been extremely cool to get these albums from MoFi that have nice warm analog sound. Don't get me wrong I am a digital boy. I grew up with Vinyl but that formate is a little too fragile for me. Plus with the vast improvemrpents in Digital Audio digital is by far the best way to listen to music. But the Vinyl masters did have a warmth to them that until the last say ten years was missing on the CD's. I feel the game changed once Sony came up with DSD for transferring and mastering analog to digital conversations. But who cares how good something sounds if the music is no good. Not worry in this case because "What Were Once Vices Are Now Habits" rocks and is worth picking up in any format!

Some of the best rock and roll of the early 1970's. Still makes you want to get up and boogie with it. The Doobies at the top of their artistic power.And a very tight group, who really compliment each other well.

This is the finest music from the Doobie Brothers. All and, I mean all) of the tracks are excellent listening.This is the work that put the Doobies "over the top" in 70's.I purchased this CD to help lessen the play of my original vinyl album, thus preserving it. The two tracks that I like the most are, "Black Water" and "Eyes of Silver".

c'est un des trois meilleurs album des Doobie brothers ! 9a sent les longs espaces américains et, on se laisse emporter tout au long du CD par une musique vivante et élaborée !

７４年発表の４作目。前作の成功もあって４．が初の全米１位を記録したヒット作。スティーリー・ダン組が関わっていないオリジナル組による最後の作品であり、楽曲も大半がトム・ジョンストンとパトリック・シモンズ（１２．のみタイロン・ポーター作）の作品。前作のヒット曲「ロング・トレイン・ランニング」や「チャイナ・グルーヴ」の印象が強く本作はその影に埋もれがちだが、本作ではそういった単一的なイメージを払拭するかのごとくバラエティに富んだ楽曲が揃っている。１．は彼らにはちょっと珍しいモロなソウル・ナンバー。軽やかなギター・リフの上をトムのマイルドな歌声が流れ、柔らかいブラスと分厚いコーラスが盛り上げる。これは必聴の佳曲だろう。２．は渋めのブルーグラス／カントリー調の曲。ハードなギター・アルペジオに柔らかなフィドルが絡むが、ややシリアス・タッチな仕上がり。３．は彼らの典型的とも言えるハードなブギ・ナンバー。５．も一聴すると従来通りの作風だが、ギターのリフをキーボードに置き変えれば、あ〜ら不思議。７．はファンクだろう。ヒット曲の４．にしてもそうだが、全体的にソフティケイトされた落ち着いた雰囲気に変化している。またソウル的な雰囲気が強い曲も多く、いわゆるスティーリー・ダン組参加以降に顕著になるサウンドの芽はすでに本作にあったことが良く分かる。やや変化球が多いが、彼らの歴史の上でも重要な作品ということになるだろう。

Doobie がアメリカを代表するバンドに成長した作品。Tom Johnston作品には少し行き詰まりを感じるがこの作品からPat Simmons が優秀な作品を生み出すように成長している。Road AngelはDoobie Brothersの一つの頂点となる曲。

レコード盤を持っていたのですが、無性に聞きたくなり購入しました。やっぱりいいわ！

Moin, nach langen Jahren des Darbens habe ich nun endlich eine klaffende Lücke im CD-Regal geschlossen und mir dieses Juwel zugelegt. Sehr Abwechslungsreich und rockig - eben die Zeit vor dem Einstieg von Michael McDonald. Klarer Kauftip.

Eines der besten Doobie-Werke. Ein Querschnitt Ihres Könnens, funky, rockig, Folk, Country und selbst jazzige sowie lateinamerikanische Elemente lassen sich heraushören. Bestes Crossover und das 30 Jahre vor der Zeit.
