Well-Designed Launcher, but the Cleaning Tool Needs Improvement
The Prepared 2 Protect P2P HDP 50, manufactured by Umarex USA, is a full-size CO₂-powered .50-caliber less-lethal launcher. I purchased several units because the price compared favorably with similar products, and I was impressed by the launcher’s overall appearance, engineering, grip, trigger, and durable construction. During my initial testing, two units performed very well with the correct 12-gram CO₂ cartridges. The integrated magazine holds six compatible rounds, and the on-demand CO₂ activation system allows the cartridge to remain unpunctured until the launcher is needed. Buyers should know that a CO₂ cartridge is not included and represents an additional purchase. My primary complaint concerns the included barrel-cleaning squeegee. The one packaged with one of my units arrived warped and cracked, then snapped during use. Its thin plastic construction feels disproportionately fragile compared with the otherwise solid launcher. The cleaning tool would benefit considerably from a stronger shaft and a more durable cleaning tip. The tools included with my other units were less problematic, but I would still like to see Umarex improve this component. The launcher is designed for manufacturer-approved .50-caliber pepper, powder, training, and rubber rounds. It should not be treated as a conventional paintball marker, and ordinary paintballs or unapproved projectiles could rupture, jam, damage the launcher, or create serious safety hazards. Because “less lethal” does not mean harmless, this product requires responsible handling, secure storage, appropriate protective equipment during practice, and compliance with all applicable laws. Overall, the P2P HDP 50 is an attractive, versatile, and reasonably priced launcher with good performance and construction quality. The defective cleaning squeegee was disappointing, but the actual launchers performed reliably during my testing. I recommend the product with that accessory-quality reservation, provided the buyer understands its operation, purchases the correct 12-gram CO₂ cartridges, uses only approved ammunition, and follows all safety and legal requirements. Finally, the air gun is lots of fun to clean, shoot, and carry.

Powerful. Accurate. Great value.
I'm inpressed with the power and the accuracy of this weapon. It is a great choice for a non-lethal self-defense weapon. The tap to activate the CO2 cartridge is ingenious. It's easily done. Which means you have a fresh CO2 cartridge when you need it the most. If you need a device like this it's an awesome choice.

Highly recommend
Very powerful and feels good in the hand. Looks like a toy but is not. I would not want to be shot by this gun with any round coming out of it. I use 50 cal aluminum rounds at 20 feet putting holes in tin sheet metal. Had a problem with air leakage at first but gunoil on the co2 took care of it. Safety on the trigger so it's safe around kids. Highly recommend

Great entry launcher for quality and value
quality product and packaging - feels solid and balanced in-hand - easy to load and fire - i bought nylon balls to train and they are very effective and re-usable - gun makes a fairly loud bang when firing and the impact is impressive, accuracy is good - got 3 magazines from one co2 and power was well maintained through the first 2 - this is apparently the 13 joule version according to the Umarex site, packaging and experience which makes it a great deal - it's slightly big for carry and conceal but doable - the product listing should make it clear its a Umarex as this is evident on the packaging and the gun itself

Decent
Aiming takes some practice. It's loud when it goes off so practicing in a neighborhood is difficult unless it's 4th of July. On the other hand, it's loud enough to scare someone off. Luckily I've never had to use the pepperballs so I can't say anything about how well those work.

Don’t
First one leaked bad, sent it back. Replacement showed up 4 days later. I think it is an ok value for the price. However, Trigger pull is horrible. Magazine holds 6 rounds, I was testing with aluminum round ball weighing 42 grains. I was getting 20 shots per co2 charge on a 60 degree day and low humidity. Chronograph read 332fps for the first 4 rounds, then went down to 220fps on the last shot. (Packaging claims 485fps, this is a 153fps difference) I shot 50 rounds over the chronograph, each session had same results. Grouping was about 6” at 20’. Had a few times the trigger would not reset, a smack along the side helped. For a less than lethal deterrent , I would not rely on this, I think the Umerex .68 revolver is a more reliable option. There are less than lethal 12 guage shotgun rounds that are a good solution for home defense that deliver a lot more ‘deterrent’. Update: after about 75 rounds the gun began leaking again. All co2 expelled within a few seconds Now will not function at all now that return window has expired

A must for cheap practice. 3 cents a round after initial ammo purchase.
I was skeptical due to price. Bought it used, like new for 85.00. The quality is outstanding and looks good to. Feels polished, no rough edges. Holds 6 rounds and easy to load. CO2 will run 3 mags worth, 18 rounds. Will do 2 or 3 more but at much lower velocities so i just degas it which is very convenient. Most have to have allen screw wrenches. This one you just push a button on back where the firing hammer would be on real gun. Haven't noticed any leaking from co2 canister so far. Bought reusable nylon projectiles and made a box target to catch them after i wasted 100 rounds before i realized they are reusable. Now i have it down to 3 cents a round to stay in practice for my real guns. Ammo is expensive now. The manufacturer says use only pepper, rubber and powder balls but reviews mentioned shooting or stuff. I figured fo 85 bucks I'll take a chance on ruining it but it shoots nylon, plastic and aluminum balls effortlessly. The aluminum balls for some reason won't fire with 6 in reservoir but i can put as many as 3 in at a time. Was mentioned on other reviews. The plastic are almost as aggressive though. Put dents and almost penitrated a 55 gallon steel barrel. Both aluminum and nylon. May not kill but would sure make you squall i bet. LOL
