Escapism the way it should be.
The box set arrived this morning. 72 DVD's across two large cases which is a similar set up to the Cheers box set I have. I sat for the best part of ten minutes checking the discs each and every one of them when it arrived. I do this for every box set before I put it to the side or start watching it. All of the discs were intact and scratch free. Two discs had to be gently wiped for tiny smear like marks. But looked like new again once cleaned. Oh by the way. I noticed Season 1 on Blu-ray for £39.99p. I got all 12 Seasons + the 4 Movies for £49.59p in a box set. DVD is good enough for me. I own some movies on Blu-ray. But most of my collection is on DVD.The main menu of Season 1 Disc 1 says "Play All" "Episodes" and "Subtitles" so why does the back of the box state it has none. It's possibly a misprint. I tried them out on episode one. The subtitles definitely work. So if S1D1 has them. The rest of the box set should have them. I'll find out on the main menu of each disc when I get there. I don't use them. But it's good for those who like to.It has been quite a few years since I last saw this show. I never really took much notice of it initially (beat me with a stick). I'd watch the occasional episode here and there. I was in my late teens/early 20's. So I didn't really appreciate shows like this back in the day. Now I am older and a little wiser. I see them for what they're worth. I love getting lost in TV nostalgia. Shows back in the day had great intro themes a lot of the time. Memorable. Play an intro from some shows nowadays and you might get lucky and recognise it. Maybe.Angela is a beautiful actress. Miss Lansbury will always be up there with Rita Hayworth (easily) in terms of beauty. Just look at her black and white photos on either Bing or Google to see this. This lady can act and then some. She never disappoints in any role I have seen her take on. She's cut from a different cloth when compared to a lot of actresses of today. So few today have that special thing to their work that the likes of Angela has and Rita had.It is now December 2018. So this box set will see me through the Winter. It's wet windy and depressing outside at the moment. Escapism is most welcome in these conditions. I think this is a show that is best watched early in the morning or at night. But it can be watched any time of the day or night really. It's atmosphere shines more in the early or late hours. Well I am off to get my fix of Jessica Fletcher's escapades shortly. It's been a long time since I last laid eyes on the show. But I look forward to it once again.A special thank you to Angela Lansbury and everyone else who had anything to do with bringing Murder, She Wrote to our screens (and to DVD) I wouldn't have all 12 Seasons and the 4 Movies if it wasn't for all of you.

Great value set, all episodes and movies included.
Great value for the price - more complete than US set, I believe, as the 4 movies are included as well as all the episodes from all the seasons. The packaging isn't great though as others have said - all the discs are tightly stacked on top of each other, but then again there are a lot of episodes and discs so I guess they had to come up with a compact way to package them. The packaging says no subtitles but some have them. Season 1 does anyway. Season 5 and 7 don't. And the movies don't. That's all I've checked so far. Will update.

A brilliant box set
Murder, She Wrote has been a favourite to watch since I was little and it was first on tv. Over the years I’ve seen a lot of reruns but they never get old. To have the entire collection is a must for any fan of the show. Hours & hours of entertainment. Would highly recommend.A light-hearted murder mystery with the legend that is Angela Lansbury at the helm, in some varied locations from “Cabot Cove, Maine” to New York, LA and even cruise ships, it’s never boring when Jessica Fletcher is around!

Great series, boxset could have been better
Purchased this during black friday sale.Pleased I managed to get the complete set for a great price. The series is great featuring the great late Angela Lansbury in her most iconic role.Contains all 12 seasons plus the specials on 72 discs. The reason for the 4 star rating is the poor packaging of the boxset, which could have been designed way better. The discs are contained in 2 large vhs style cases. They have tried to jam as many discs as possible in a little space. This is a nightmare as depending on what disc you are wanting you may have to lift out up to 6 discs to get a certain disc (with 3 discs being staked on top of each other than being overlaid on top of a further 3 discs). It would have been better if each season was in its own individual box to make it easy (although this would have make the boxset a lot thicker/bigger).Also the cases are stored in a very thin flimsy cardboard which is very tight when lifting the cases out (also you keep catching the cases onto the cardboard when lifting in and out, which has caused damaged to the cases which isn't ideal), it would have been better if the boxset was made of thicker card.Overall for the price paid I am happy however I would have preferred paying a bit more for better produced box set.So overall a 5* series that has been made into a 4* boxset.UPDATE:Please note that Series 3 Ep8 is the 2nd part in a crossover episode that the show had with Magnum P.I (to watch the first part you will need to watch Magnum P.I Series 7 Ep9)
