You will die...alot
What is there to say? its Dark Souls, its gonna kill you over and over again but in this version you get over 7 fps in blight town! The switch handles the game incredibly well i have had no problems (besides the bed of chaos) and i am very happy with the purchase. There are two things to be aware of, first the control scheme is the same as as on the Xbox or PlayStation meaning the bottom most button on the switch (B) is the activate button and might throw people use to Xbox controls as that B button is somewhere else so the prompts might throw some people. The second thing is that to access the multiplayer portion you have to pay a monthly subscription to use the Nintendo online feature, this is again similar to how Xbox live works and isn't game breaking but just better to know before you buy. Once again, this is a great game and works very well on this console, Praise the Sun!

Great
Dark souls remastered is about a undead warrior who sets out on a massive journey to either restore the age of fire or become a dark Lord. Everywhere is interconnected And you are not limited by a storyline mostly. You can decide where to go in whatever order you want but you might not be powerful enough to defeat anything. Your actions have consequences for example if you stab someone they will either try to kill you or in the case of a certain merchant run out of reach and shout at you and refuse to sell things to you. Bosses are very hard but fun and tense most of the time. You also are not limited by your class for example if you choose the warrior class you can work on your intelligence to be able to cast mighty spells like a sorcerer.in my opinion this is a great game

Dark Souls... but portable
The short answer is that yes it's the full Dark Souls and yes it works great in portable mode. Like the Skyrim port to Switch it's not really the 'remaster', just a smoother port of the x360/PS3 version including the DLC... which is more than good enough when you're sat on a train, plane or in a coffee shop battling away. The game itself is incredibly influential and demanding (it feels like hard work plowing through the game world, compared to the nice holiday of Zelda) and just playing it you can see how it's philosophy has leaked into a lot of modern game designs... in that way you could argue it's the best game on the Switch (Edge Magazine did recently declare it the greatest of all time) but that does feel like cheating on an old port. To note you need a Nintendo Online Pass for the Online elements to work, it also doesn't pause... even when you put the Switch into sleep mode, which is the same across all platforms.

Probably best for first timers - if you've already played, there are better formats to revisit on
This is my first foray into Dark Souls so very much a latecomer. Hot take - it's a fantastic game! Yes it seems hard to new players. And yes it gets incredibly frustrating at times because it is very unforgiving gameplay. But very rewarding as you progress and learn how to play in a way that works for you (I refuse to say 'Get good'). Once you have completed it once you'll likely enjoy replaying and probably wonder what was so difficult initially. From what I have read, most of the serious bugs and design problems of the original version have been ironed out of this remaster. So great for newbies like me. But nothing new here if you're a veteran of the original. Praise the sun!

slow and cumbersome
I was looking forward to this game however, i found the controls to be very cumbersome. Graphically the game looks like a 360 port which turned out to be the case, very disappointed with the product.

Worth the purchase.
An excellent remaster of the original game, don't believe the negative press. The Switch version is excellent and the graphics hold up, no they're not as good as the PS4 or Xboxone versions, but still look great on the Switch screen in both docked or handheld modes. The only thing I found a problem is the controls on the switch where the joy-con controller being too cramped for such an intense game though when docked the pro-controller is a joy.

Portable Souls
Dark Souls is a favourite game for many, and for myself it was a game that got me through a difficult time upon its original release. For that reason alone, I can't help but love this game, so there is a degree of bias here. This is the same game you played in 2011, albeit with the later DLC included. It's a step down from the recent PS4 and XB1 remasters visually, but the Switch's smaller screens mask this very well indeed. The huge appeal here is the portability. Souls on the train! Souls on the loo! Souls on the couch while someone else watches X Factor... I initially thought that the Switch might be a bit fiddly for this game but I actually found it a little easier. My first playthrough since 2014 but still managed to finish it in a respectable 20hrs (my first play in 2011 took 65). The framerate remains generally smooth throughout with no areas performing noticeably poorly. Headphones /earphones are recommended, and prepare for a rather basic looking game if you choose to play docked (the PS4 / XB1 HUD options put the docked Switch game to shame here). In my opinion, the game has aged well. There are a wealth of ways to play the game, online play is improved over the original release, and you've got another classic in portable form!

For me, these are great products. Check the descriptions, and if they meet your needs, you can buy them.
