The continual peppering of in-jokes and cultural references becomes less irksome on video. That there's no majesty or awe invested in the beloved Greek legends also seems less of an error. Also on the plus side is the bounciest Alan Menken music since Little Shop of Horrors. With Zeus's blood in his veins, young Hercules's amazing strength makes him an outcast (sorry, that still doesn't scan), so he trains with a satyr named Phil to become a hero. Along the way Herc meets Meg, a common mortal who falls hard for him. They're both against the jocular Hades, who has to destroy Hercules to take over Olympus. I love this movie but I don’t understand why it isn’t available in other languages? I know it has been translated in Italian for sure but after paying for the movie I found out other languages options weren’t available. Very disappointed by this.

A lesser known gem from Disney's Renaissance. The blu ray is an improvement over the previously released dvd, but it is not the revelation that Sleeping Beauty was, but there is a wide divide between the two films respective productions. Disney's Hercules is a great family film with a lot of humor, great performances, and a solid, if somewhat formulaic, story. There is a lot of humor for the adults, as well as for the kids.

Es ist einfach ein super Familienfilm, der mit seiner Mischung aus Humor und Herzpunkt perfekt für gemeinsame Filmabende geeignet ist. Die animierten Szenen sind farbenfroh und detailreich gestaltet, was den Film visuell ansprechend macht.
