Educational Innovations Polarizer 6x6 in. Plastic Polarizing Filter

It's film. Polarized film. And it works just as the image depicts. Unlike the image, however, you only get one sheet of it, but it is thicker than other films and is therefore more durable and handle-able. Keep it in the included plastic bag and ideally in a rigid cover of some sort (a book worked fine for me). Mine came slightly bent but not enough to bother me. There is a certain "monitor hack" circulating around the internet that involves using polarizing film with glasses frames to make a privacy monitor. Because the built-in film on most flatscreens is layered with adhesive and plastic and nearly impossible to separate without damaging, this made a hassle-free substitute. All you need is some 3D glasses frames from the movie theater and you're good to go. Perhaps I should use the portion I didn't use for something that's actually educational...

Very misleading image of product - You get ONE not seven . . . I think this is a deceptive misrepresentation of what you get. The text does not give the number . . . but the image implies more than one. Furthermore . . . It does say: These 6 x 6-inch, high quality plastic polarizing filters are perfect for all kinds of experimentation. When I went to school, THESE was the plural for THIS . . . AND it says filterS . . . Amazon . . . take note. It went back. I was annoyed at myself that I fell for the deception.

*Be sure to remove the protective film from both sides before use* I have prescription glasses with the blue light filter. This causes my eyes to be obstructed on my webcam by strange floating squares. A quick reddit search showed that polarizing filters could be the solution I was looking for! I cut off a small square of this filter and removed the protective film. I wedged the filter in front of the camera piece on my webcam. Bye, bye blue eyes! The only thing to be aware of is that a this is a filter, it will considerably darken the rest of the output from the webcam. An affordable solution is a cheap clip-on ring light :)

The product description doesn’t make it clear that there was only ONE filter. From the picture, I was under the impression there were 8 filters. The filter itself does what it needs to do, but had I known that there was only one filter, I would have bought from somewhere else cheaper, since this was for an inexpensive hobby of mine and not anything sophisticated.

Several points to note: 1. It is a very thin flexible sheet, about like a heavy gage paper, and easily cut with scissors. 2. It is naturally slightly curved since it came off of a larger roll of sheet material. You can easily flatten it and could make a frame to hold it flat. 3. It initially appears to have some scuffs and scratches and a glued on bar code strip that doesn't easily peal off. What is not explained, however, is that both sides of the polarizing sheet are covered with a very thin protective transparent sheet that is easily overlooked. You can (should) peel off these protective sheets which removes the "apparent scratches" and the bar code. The remaining sheet is a good quality, very thin and plyable polarizing sheet. It is not very rigid but will hold it's shape when moved around. It is quite suitable for demonstration pruposes.

I'm using this filter for my microscope. Happily, it's much thicker than I expected. Very durable. It wasn't easy to cut a circle with a compass circle cutter, so I finally resorted to scissors to finish the job. In view of all the negative comments, I'm wondering if the people who made those comments were aware that this sheet of polarizing film comes with a protective sheet of film on it, which has to be peeled off. The sheet I received came perfectly clear without a mark on it. During the handling of this sheet, many hairline scratches and marks appeared on the sheet, but these were actually on the protective film. Once peeled off, the polarizer sheet was shown to be in perfect condition. It works as advertised. Rotating one piece of this polarizing filter in front of another piece, does indeed vary the light that gets through, from allowing the maximum amount of light, to total blackout. I was very satisfied. An excellent product

I recently purchased an Anker PowerConf C-200 webcam. It was great but I had an awful glare on my glasses from the computer screen. The C-200 has an oddball "square-round" shape and there are no snap on filters available. I ordered this filter and cut a piece to fit, then taped it on. You do need to test orientation to make sure the piece you use is lined up to cut the glare. Then cut it out with scissors. I only needed a piece roughly 40mm square, so still have a lot of the sheet for another project some day.

This product feels misleading and like a ripoff. I thought I was buying the 10x sheets but instead it's 1x 6"x6" sheet. It looks like the material was torn or cut without care and thrown into a bag.
