Good for gate safety
Since the gate does have built in mechanics to reopen if it comes into contact with anything, you could probably do without these, but to be extra safe, they do work as promised. A little bit of work to install, and needs lots of wiring not included.

Not for solar installations...
The gate opener you purchase will tell you this in a small note regarding installing accessories. It would have been nice to know that these required a wired power source (no solar installations as they constantly consume power) before I bought the product.
