A keeper for sure - great group game.
I'm not a lifelong gamer - the Wii is the first gaming system I've ever owned and I have a 6 year old and a 9 year old son. So I don't know about the long history of Mario games - I've certainly heard of Mario, but the Mario franchise is new to me. So I was a little nervous buying into the game - would I have to know all sorts of back story to play it? No, not a bit. The game format is simple. Up to four players (living or computer) can play a board game in which you roll dice (the Wii remote), move around a board and play little 1 minute mini games to earn prizes. The goal is usually to collect Stars but how you do that changes from game to game. Games can last for 10-50 turns (a typical 10 turn game is about 30 minutes), and players can be handicapped (so I can let the kids start out with two extra stars and then play as well as I want to, as I try to beat them). The mini games are pretty fun - everyone has their favorites and everyone has games that they hate. The mini games get picked at random, so you never know what you'll get. One thing I love is that you can practice a game before you play it for real. So when friends come over, they have a chance to see how the game is played before jumping in and getting their butts kicked by my kids (who have played many times). It's a great leveling field. The games are also designed to have a fair bit of randomness in them (a few of the games are completely luck). While there's skill, you can still see that luck plays a role and when you've got a 40-year old vs. a 6-year old that's a really good thing. The game boards feature different game goals and scenes. The boys like the variety: ghosts in a spooky house, dolphins on the beachside, a space station. And you can make the computer players as smart or as dumb as you want, so there's a lot of room to create a game that everyone will enjoy. Also, while it's really great as a group game you can play alone - my 6 year old likes to practice by himself and will give himself a smart computer partner so that he can kick butt. We've really enjoyed it and I've purchased it as a gift, too. I wouldn't hesitate to buy it again - it's a keeper.

10/10 Wii Game
This is so fun with friends and family you get to do a lot of party and mini games and just have a blast competing against each other to become the best player at the end of it all with the most stars I definitely love this version more than the new switch version

Game Did not work
Didnt work at all..when I put it in it seems to work fine and goes to the menu and to the game but once it gets to the main game menu a screen pops up saying disc cant be played,I dont remember the exact wording and i WILL NOT be putting it back in my wii because I tried multiple times and it did the same thing and then when I tried a different game(one that's always worked)the same thing happened and I've never had my wii malfunction like that before I absolutely thought it gave my wii a virus or something.I have no idea what it actually did all I know is my other games work now and I'm scared to put that one back in and it didn't work anyways lol I have 2 wiis and it didnt work in either.I Have not contacted the seller I just took it as a loss.I was REALLY excited to play this game with my boys though 🙁

Great Game!
The game itself is very similar to any other carnival or multi/mini-game video product, except with a Mario twist. My husband and I are actually still working our way through figuring out all the mini-games. My husband is in the military and all the guys on the boat who have this game recommended it. Pros: fun, variety, multi-player, great for all ages. Cons: The company we bought it from (circuitcity.com) sent it to us in a plastic envelope, NOT padded, far bigger than the game & no matter how well a game is sealed, there is always potential for the disc breaking loose & scratching (fortunately, not in our case, but it could happen to anyone of you).

Groovy keen, jelly beans!
We played this game back in the day on my Nintendo 64. It was okay then, kind of weird and hard to play, but still fun. The new Mario Party 8 for the Wii is awesome! It is an amazing improvement from the first Mario Party games (I haven't had a chance to play Mario Party on any other system). Anyway, we played it at my friend's house a few times and were hooked! We already have a Wii, so we just ended up buying our own copy when we spotted it for a good price. It's nice, cuz you can play it by yourself, or with a bunch of people. It's fairly easy but can be made to be a little more difficult if you like it that way. For kids, adults, whoever, this is a definitely good idea and well worth it! :D

A bit dated, but still loads of fun!
I played this game a couple of years ago on my first wii experience and I was blown away. Everything impressed me, the controls, the vibrating controllers, the graphics, the games. . . When I finally did buy a wii, it was at the top of my list of WANTs, but I never could justify paying $40-$50 for it. In the meantime, I played Mario Kart, the new Super Mario Bros., and Mario Galaxy. But this game was always in the back of my head. I finally found Mario Party 8 on the marketplace for $25 a few weeks ago and I snatched it up. The first time I played it, I was a bit disappointed. The characters were stiff and the graphics weren't the eye candy that I remembered. The mini-games were simplistic and almost a little insulting (draw a triangle? Really?) But after playing it a few times with an enthusiastic husband, I was reminded why this game has stood the test of time and still is one of the hardest games to get a hold of for under $40. It is incredibly addictive and fun to play, perfect for getting friends together for a fun evening. I'm over the dated graphics and now I'm addicted again. Just goes to show that everything the Mario franchise has touched is gold.

Mi favorito
Es bueno poder volver a conseguir mi Mario Party favorito (aún no he jugado el de Switch). Este juego es una reimpresión nueva, por lo cual como todo juego actual, ya no incluye manual.

cracking family fun
I dont usually write reviews but want to share my thoughts. I originally purchased this item not fully understanding what it was about just went along with the whole Mario thing. At first I didnt really rate the game, its in board game style and there is no need to even move your own character however, I stuck with it, started to understand the aim of each section within the game, and even started to love the candy actions which at first I just couldnt get my head around. All in all I have now had this game for several months, I normally trade a game in after a couple of months but not this game. Its very easy especially when you get the nack of the mini games within it, yet great fun. I absolutely love it, especially on a Sunday afternoon because it requires little brain power, even little effort not having to move your own character. If you are looking for a game with good graphics that the whole family can play and you are fan of Mario I would recommend! Im never trading mine in, well at least until Mario Party 9 comes out.
