A great daily-use reference for particles and common use grammar
Any language text with a subtitle of "Write and Speak ____ like a native!" makes me a bit leery, but this is a great text. No, it won't make you write and speak like a native, but it will help you cement your previous learning and provide a bridge from elementary level texts (Genki I+II, etc.) into the intermediate level texts (for example: An Integrated Approach to Intermediate Japanese by Miura & McGloin). The book is thoughtfully organized with explanations and examples being clear and helpful. Also because the book is divided into learning ("Japanese Grammar: An Overview") and reference ("Dictionary of Usage") sections, it remains useful as a quick reference book for looking up particle (and other grammar) usages long after you've made your way through the learning section of the book.I'm JLPT N5 certified and when translating Japanese light novels, I use this book as my primary reference when I come across something that I need to look up. While it's not comprehensive (I come across usages that aren't covered from time to time), this the best book on Japanese particles (and common use grammar) that I've found and I use it almost daily.

High level linguistic guide
This is my third book in studying the Japanese language and by far this text book is very technical. If you have not learned Hiaragana or Katakana you will want to buy another book first before picking this one up. The focus of this book is aimed at those who already have a grasp at the Japanese language as well as the English language. There were many times when I was learning something such as moras and adjecunal nouns without being aware of what they were in English. It is a good read, but study easier books first.

Essential Book for Understanding Japanese Nuances
I have been studying Japanese independently using multiple apps, books, and J-dramas for years and there are still some nuances in Japanese communication that are difficult to understand. However, this book makes those concepts easy to grasp and is an excellent, essential book for anyone trying to learn this complicated language!

A must for anyone learning Japanese
This book is so awesome. Breaks down Japanese grammar into two parts, first an overview of the different components of Japanese grammar, then a dictionary of how these components function. Both sections have been so helpful in my struggle to grasp this difficult language. Get it.

An indispensable tool
I am learning Japanese all by myself and making very good progress. This book is one of my KEY TOOLS. Indeed I find it indispensable. It has exactly the right balance between simplicity and digging deep into the grammar. If you use this book, you need to have some interest in the grammatical parts of Japanese . It is organized with some general chapters on Sentence Construction, Verbs, Adjectives etc. followed by an alphabetical main part on all kinds or words and expressions of importance. For each of these entries there is a good introduction of a few lines followed by sentence examples given in English and in Japanese in both Roma-ji and Kanji-Kana. I do not read kanji-Kana but look at the signs enables me to compare them with words in my general Dictoonaries and so they are of help. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anybody seriously studying Japanese.I NOW ADD to my review this: I am just beginning to learn some Kana using the book and the TUTTLE Kana Flashcards which I have also purchased. In fact, the book here reviewed has some "typographical errors" but it becomes great fun to decipher what is actually mreant using my dictionarires and the kana/kanji text in the book. I never though typos could be an indirect help :-) I am actually working the book in the way that I for each of the alphabetical entries make a Table in WORD with the following columns: English sentence,m Japanese sentence, notes and words used (two columns for english and Japanese version so f the wotrds). This way I get really deep and can reyturn to try the sentences, having help from my dictionary entries. Eventually I shall be able to print out the more important parts of the book this way. I cannot praise this book too much! I just now purchased also the TUTTLE CONCISE DICTIONARY and look forward to see how this will work.
