PreSonus Eris 3.5 Powered Desktop Studio Monitors, Pair – 50W, White

When my Creative Pebble 2.0 computer speakers stopped working, I knew I needed a new set of speakers. In years past, I had the Rokit 5 G2 monitors and matching subwoofer for my main video editing computer. But right now I don't have that kind of money to spend, and I'm not currently doing enough paid editing work to justify that kind of investment. I needed speakers that would mostly be used for listening to music, watching video content, and for editing videos occasionally. Enter the PreSonus Eris 3.5, which at just under $100 was at the top end of what I could spend. I almost went with the Ortizan C7, but decided on these instead both for the smooth volume knob adjustment and the PreSonus brand name. They were easy to set up with my MacMini, they look great on my white desk, and there's always the option to get the Eris subwoofer if I want to. I did not need Bluetooth connectivity, just wired RCA or 3.5mm, with the option to do 1/4" later on. Be aware these are not true active monitors, they're basically something between that and computer speakers. The left side has the power cable, the inputs, and the bass/treble adjustments. The right speaker is a passive "satellite" that connects with regular speaker wire. At 25w each, I can't see the point of upgrading the wire to a larger gauge. The tweeters do have a grille covering them which is nice, and the carbon fiber woofers have a smooth concave dustcap. I'm not worried about denting the woofer or tweeter. Now let's talk about sound. These definitely get loud enough for a bedroom or small office. I rarely turn mine up past 50% and at that level it's louder than I normally listen to things. The response is maybe a little heavy on bass/mid-bass, so I turned down the bass knob on the speaker to about 30% and use an EQ program on my computer to slightly boost the mids/highs and roll off the bass. With that, the speakers sound balanced to my ears. If you're using these for consuming entertainment, they certainly fit the bill. If you're mixing your own music/videos as an amateur or low-budget prosumer, then these will probably work if you set the EQ right for your room. I would still recommend checking your mix on a good pair of headphones and also a cheap mono speaker. They look good, they sound good, and have just enough upgrade options to work at the prosumer level. I did not pay extra for the Bluetooth feature as I figured the subwoofer comes with that functionality if I really want it later on. EDIT: I bought a right angled power cable and angled RCA adapters so that I could fit the Left speaker closer to the wall than the factory cables would allow.

Outstanding for the price. Way better than any computer speakers. Not a ton of bass, but what bass it has is balanced. If you want more, get a sub.

The sound is perfect. Very easy to connect the volume distorts a bit at max but for the price they are awesome

Good build quality. If you listen to podcasts on these though, the response is a tad boomy especially for male hosts. Otherwise, these sound good for the price.

My son and I fight over these because they are really clean. They sound like the vacuum of space probably does… before you lose audio function, at least. I spent 6 months in a suspended sound room with $10,000 monitors (each) testing decibel levels to the tenth of a decibel. These speakers remind me of that room when everything was turned off. I use these for recording but haven't done a big project with them yet. So far, though, whenever I hook them up to my equipment or instruments, they've delivered great sound. I like the ability to adjust them for balanced sound, regardless of their placement in a setup. I expect to use it in final recordings. But, I haven't felt the need to adjust them. Bob and Larry both carry their weight. I have begun to trust that if there's a problem in the chain, it's not coming from either one of these gentlemen. My favorite feature-- by far-- is the wide range of connections. I can't benefit from equipment that requires a bunch of new, expensive wires, converters, or adapters. I always appreciate equipment that makes quick substitutions easier and doesn't come with hidden costs to use with my kit. Each dedicated connection saves money, results in better sound quality, and is useful in more setups over the lifetime of the equipment. I hate buying connectors which always come with the 'get lost' feature set to 11 or paying for stupid, single-use wires and then, invariably, to lose. All of these connections, switches, and plugs are clearly labeled, they are accessible at the point of over-delivery with an Aux In and 3.5 mm headphone access on the front between a volume dial and power switch. That is spoiling me. I'm losing patience with equipment that have plugs on the back. One caveat regarding the three main hookups. They will only power one piece of equipment. I can't put the guitar in one and the keyboard in another connection and get both sounds. That still requires an audio interface. Another feature I really appreciate is the full control over both boxes with a single adjustment. They have the 'tuning' set of two dials I already mentioned. Those simply control relative volume for each monitor. The one-and-done ease means less I forget to check. I believe these two will be part of my setup for years to come. I imagine pros would get a lot of use from these, too. Though, I'm not the one to ask about that. I really like these monitors and, despite being prone to buyer's remorse, I am still happy a little over a month after purchase. Considering the price of these dropped $50 exactly 30 days after purchase, so I can't return them, I still find them a good purchase and a pleasant addition to my kit.

This little speakers pack a big punch. I use them for music production beat making and light vocals the 808s don't bang as much as I would like but that's why I'm going to get a subwoofer for them. Everything else sounds great in FL studio. I also use them for gaming on my Lenovo legion go s,the included aux cable plugs right into the game into the speakers. Video games sound even better than the music. Bottom line if your on a budget and you live in a moderate size apartment or a small bedroom get these speakers.

Great addition to my set that already includes a pair of Presonus 6.5” and the Presonus 8” sub.. The 3.5” speakers completes the set.. Perfecto

I'm not so sure about these being called "Studio Monitors" (Yamaha's HS4 are more deserving of that title), but as bookshelf speakers for casual listening and budget music production they are great. I would recommend using these with an audio interface & 1/4" jack, as the 3.5mm is extremely noisy. Sound is not as balanced as true studio monitors but pleasant to listen to.

It works well with the drumset.

Very good sound quality and clarity is more than what I expected. Literally plug and play. Definitely 100% recommend if you want to step up your audio / recording setup.

正直この価格でモニターなんかできるのか？と思ってましたが、使ってみると普段聞こえない音までクッキリ聞こえてびっくりしました。 ローの響きは流石に大きいものには敵いませんが、それでもこの価格でしっかり音が聞こえるのは本当に驚きです。 音楽を聴くのが楽しくなりますよ！

Excellent sounding speakers. Just make sure you turn them off when not in use otherwise the caps will eventually bulge and fail on the amp.
