Budget-Friendly Card Reader That Actually Works — Lightning & USB-C.
I bought this back in April 2026 for my daughter—she needed to pull what to me seemed like thousands of photos off her iPhone and also copy files from a camera that only has onboard storage. At the price, I'll be honest: I wasn't expecting much. I fully braced myself for the inevitable "Dad, it's not working" text, but from the second we plugged it into her Lightning port it just… worked. No drivers, no faff, no error messages. Transfer speeds aren't going to set any records, but it churned through the whole library without a single hiccup. The unexpected bonus was the little USB-C adapter tucked in the box. That meant we could attache it straight into her camera and drag those files across too—one gadget, two jobs done. Once the back-up was finished it went into a drawer, but it's sitting there ready for the next time a phone fills up or a camera needs offloading. If you've got a specific Lightning-use case, that extra USB-C tip makes it surprisingly versatile. It's a classic cheap-and-cheerful buy: does exactly what you need, then gets out of the way. Only reason it's not five stars is the plasticky feel and the merely-okay transfer speed. 4/5.
