Pure adrenaline
There is nothing like this. The thrilling feeling of being a fighter pilot without anybody getting hurt. It's not as easy as Pac Man. It definitely has a learning curve.

A GEM OF TRUE SIGHT
I've played all of the AC games and loved every single one of them. AC 7 still doesn't disappoint. There's a lot of crying going on about the bonus content not being provided. With a little bit of effort (I agree no one should have to work for something they paid for) you can have the content sent to you or in some cases (like mine) a new disc sent to you that should also include the content code. As for the game because that's what the reviews should REALLY be about: The cut scenes are really fun to watch and the plot in general feels like a movie. Aircraft detail and flight characteristics are unique. It has both a combination of arcade and simulator feel. On first flight, the game defaults to assistance with controls, that is, the aircraft won't roll and what not. So you can turn that off in the settings and get the full yaw, roll and pitch fully controlled by YOU. Graphics are breathtaking and the level of variety sets a new standard for flying games. I am so glad that AC still continues to be made. IT almost reminds me (if anyone remembers back in the late 90's the Jane's Combat Simulation games, USNF and ATF and all those through the realism and variety of aircraft). Glad to have bought this game, the bonus content to me was just extra so I didn't care if I got it or not, I already beat those games anyway. Haven't tested out the multiplayer yet but I hope to see you all out there in the air!!

tremendous graphics
Like most first person shooter games that quickly bore you this program puts you in the cockpit of some classic warplanes The real entertainment here are the graphics and authentic artwork of the planes and geography. Full after burner flights, dogfights, and ground straffing have never been more fun 💥

The series's triumphant return
Regarding the AC5 code; I didn't get mine in the mail, either. I contacted Amazon and they got one sent to me within the day. Even if they hadn't though, at some point reviews are supposed to be about the product, not the seller... People talk about Kingdom Hearts 3's long awaited release, but us Ace Combat fans have been waiting for this game to come out for almost as long. The last mainline Strangereal game that we got, Ace Combat 6 on 360, came out almost 12 years ago. And now that it's here, I can say that Project Aces has, for the most part, delivered. First, the good. We're back in Strangereal, and it feels great. You're once again flying for Osea (mostly), this time against an invasion by Erusia. One of the big themes of this game is information access, and how disrupting it can cause chaos. While you are principally an Osean soldier, that matters less and less as the game continues, information gives way to rumors, and lines are blurred. While this is the next entry in a very long-running franchise, newcomers shouldn't worry about jumping in. Aside from a few exciting callbacks to previous games (particularly 5), 7's story stands on its own. If you do get your digital copy of Ace Combat 5, I might recommend playing through it before you play 7, just so you'll get some of the references they put out there. The game looks really good. I remember early on the developers discussed that one of their goals with 7 was to make the sky itself more of an element in gameplay. That felt like fluff at the time, but playing through the game, it really does feel like special attention was paid to the natural elements. Clouds, for example, cause your canopy to fog and eventually ice up, and will screw with missile tracking, such that it's a viable tactic to escape enemies by flying into them. Turbulence can throw you off course, and lightning strikes can scramble your electronics. These things don't dominate the gameplay, but they are a meaningful addition and collectively make the game more immersive. The music is, as always, excellent. Keiki Kobayashi returns to add his signature touch to the score, and it shows. It still doesn't quite top what he did for AC5 in my opinion, but it's a great work all the same. There's a general feeling like the technology has progressed since the previous entries. The prevalence of drones in the story are maybe the biggest indication of this, but you can see it here and there across the board. For example, whereas railguns and laser weapons used to be limited to futuristic superplanes in past games, now they've spread to a wider variety of more basic planes. The final boss in the game made me feel like we were gradually approaching Macross levels of dogfighting. As a smaller note, the game is fully multilingual, with options for English and Japanese voiceovers and subtitles, as well as other languages. Now, for the stuff I was a little disappointed by. The first thing you'll likely notice is that the plane selection is a little weak. There's a noticeably large number of F-15 variants and Sukhois, and the selection is dominated by Fighters, with only TWO Attacker craft. Mainstays like the F-22, A-10, F/A-18, F-14, Su-47 and Typhoon are present, but for example we didn't get the Nighthawk this time around, and the F-4 Phantom is preorder only. The superplane in this game is also not very interesting, at least in my opinion. The wingmen in this game also feel a little less... there. It's fun to listen to radio chatter like always, and most of characters have reasonably endearing personalities (I liked Huxian and Wiseman in particular), but while I do occasionally notice them getting kills, for the most part your wingmen are just kinda there to fill out the scene and provide dialogue. There's also no wingman support mechanic like in 5, 6 and Zero. A quick note on the multiplayer. I haven't played a whole lot of it, but while it's a little basic it seems fine. It has two modes: Battle Royale (basically Free For All) and Team Deathmatch. In order to prevent every match from being a throwdown between F-22s, Su-57s and YF-23s each aircraft has a "cost" associated with it, with the better planes being more expensive. You can set your matchmaking criteria to only pull up matches with a certain maximum cost, which forces everyone to use lower tiers of planes. There's no voice chat from what I can see, but you can set a bunch of preset messages to broadcast while in-game. Overall, this unmistakably the game that Ace Combat fans have been waiting for. It's been a long wait, but Ace Combat is back.

Great addition to the Ace Combat franchise
I have loved all the Ace Combat games since I had my Nintendo 64 as a boy. It seems that the fighter jet games are becoming a thing of the past, but I hope they continue this franchise on whenever the next gen consoles come out. The story on this one feels like it jumps around a bit, and there is a lot of monologue that doesn’t seem to always fit together. I appreciate them trying to make it feel more like a story, but I think the gamers who play these, would be fine with just a simple plot of “here come the bad guys, let’s shoot them down”. Having said that, the missions are actually really diverse, and very fun. They are challenging as all Ace Combat games in the past have been. Just enough that it takes time to figure them out and break them down. I will say that I think every mission has a “plot twist” thrown in, which started seeming unnecessary. Also, the missions are generally fairly long. So it can be hard if you just want to sit and play for 20 minutes, you might not get through and there is no save or checkpoint in the middle of the missions. The aircraft and weapons are top notch. And of course the flying experience is fantastic. Very nostalgic of past Ace Combat games. PLEASE KEEP MAKING THESE GAMES

Ehh story, but amazing gameplay and graphics!
note: This review is only for the singleplayer content, I don't have access to multiplayer. It's a bit of a struggle when you start out since your trying to figure out the control's, but once you do the game just becomes so fun to play as you fly though the skies as an ace pilot. There story is kinda of ehh mainly because you don't stick to the same squadron and they don't develop them enough in my opinion. To be fair though, it didn't seem that the game was to focus on fleshing out the character and it was more focused on the politics behind why everything was happening and I think they do a good enough job on that, but I wish they fleshed the teams you worked with more. For me, the game shines in graphics and gameplay. The evironoments in the sky look beautiful and I love the design of the planes and drones. For gameplay I played on the ps4 controller with standard controls, It was odd at first, but I got the hang of it. I like the aircraft tree for getting planes and parts, however if you want to unlock everything for singleplayer mode on the tree then your gonna have to play all the difficulties to get enough points to unlock them, which I didn't mind cause the game was really fun or repeat playthroughs with your new planes.

This game just isn't doing it for me
I've played Ace Combat games for a long time, and they're usually good for a play-through or two and that's about it. This one doesn't even make it that far for me unfortunately. There's a few reasons. First, and probably most importantly, you can never change your difficulty level after starting the game, which is an odd choice. If you get stuck and want to drop the difficulty down, you have to restart the entire game at an easier difficulty. This is just poor design and I can't for the life of me figure out why they'd do it. Because I've played all the previous Ace Combat games before, I started this one on hard mode. They simply didn't calibrate the game very well. Some missions will be a complete cakewalk, no problem, others you will desperately scramble to get the requisite number of points in a time limit and have to try repeatedly to figure out which path to take to maximize points. You cant really plan ahead for these, because just about every mission will have a mid-mission twist that you have to discover. Plane variety: This game has the usual suspects you would expect, a bunch of modern jet fighters and even some prototypes. The problem is that the best plane for just about every mission is the a-10, and as much as I love the a-10 I'd prefer to have some variety. In missions where you are trying to rack up points, its ability to fly slowly over land and take more missile shots per pass is a huge advantage. Ideally it should suffer in air-to-air combat to offset this, but it really doesn't. This version of the a-10 isn't the fastest plane in game, but it was certainly capable. There were only a couple mission types where it didnt work out easily, anti-ship missions were better with planes that had anti-ship missiles and missions where objectives popped up all over the map were better with faster planes. The series is known for it's crazy missions where you do things a plane would never do, and that's great. This game has several of those moments. But they also make heavy use of a game mechanic that makes every target on screen neutral until you identify them. You identify them by placing your crosshair on them for a few seconds and getting close. This completely negates all the long range weapons you are spending points to unlock. It wouldn't be a huge deal if it was just one mission, but it's several. So you have all this fancy stuff you unlocked and what do you end up using? That's right, the a-10... because its slow approach allows the most time after identifying enemies. And lastly, the absolutely-constant missile warnings get annoying eventually. As the game progresses, there will be more and more enemies, in later levels maybe 50+ trying to shoot you. That means at any given time there is a missile coming towards you, and the warning and required evasion is just absolutely annoying. To me it suggests that they cant make good AI to make the game challenging, so the only way they can make it challenging is to make you constantly bank and turn instead of pursuing objectives. I know a lot of people like this game, and I really wanted to. It is definitely a step towards some earlier games in the series with good controls and gameplay. But for me, i found myself frustrated and trying to just get through it. Your mileage may vary.
