This definitely creates a brightly colored dye to help detect leaks. Note that you should have your pool or spa pump off to stop the circulation and flow of water while using it. That will help make it much more obvious if there is a leak. Also don’t worry about the dye, it will blend seemlessly with the water after getting mixed around a bit. It did not stain my pool in any way. I found it fairly easy to use with a mask and swimming in the pool, but really deep pools may be more of a pain. Overall it’s good and there’s plenty of dye. I’ve used it several times to check for leaks and still have some leftover.

This kit works extremely well. Using food coloring and a small syringe I’d spent hours and days trying to find where my pool was losing water. The food coloring would quickly dissipate and vanish against the dark blue patterned liner. Looking for a better option I found this. The neon yellow in this kit stays highly visible much longer. The two included syringes hold plenty of dye, eliminating the need for constant refills. The long blunt needles/applicators allow you to very precisely distribute and observe the dye. I was able to locate and confirm several tiny pinholes in the liner. I never would’ve found these with the 5ml plastic blunt-tip syringe I’d been using. The bottle cap’s design makes filling the syringe simple and mess-free. It anlso allows you to push the unused dye back into the container. I wish I would’ve known about this product from the beginning. It’s something, in my opinion, any pool owner should keep on hand.

This product is as advertised, and I have no problems with the quality of it. However, it did not help me at all in locating my pool leak. I wound up calling a professional company. (If you're in Florida or Houston, TX, I used Red Rhino and was very satisfied.) Even the pro took 6 hours over two visits to solve my problem, so maybe I expected too much from this little kit.

This is a good product to have for pool or spa but it's a good product to have in case of leak and a piece of mind. I used this product for my pool and it works great to detect any leak or problem you might have in the future. This is a must have for any pool or spa you have.

Works well lasts a while to allow you to pinpoint the area. Only problem was it went through customs and the didn't put the lid on and half the product was all over package
