Poor Quality - Ironman no longer goes the distance (or is it a real Timex?)
I bought this watch after years of being happy and satisfied with several Timex Ironman watches. They've always been my favorite as a long distance runner because of their durability, functionality, and value. The watch I bought though hasn't lived up to any of those qualities and within 6 months of buying the watch, I need to replace it already. Within a few weeks of buying it, a large scratch appeared on the face of the watch that makes it very difficult to read. The strange aspect is that I don't recall doing anything at the time in a rough way or use it in a harsh environment that one would expect to scratch the face of the watch (other than sticking my hands in and out of my pocket with the watch on my wrist). In all the years of owning prior Ironman watches, I never once had a scratch on the face of a watch.Other problems that have now come up within the last few months is that the alarms do not consistently go off as set and the Indiglo light function no longer works and the watch cannot be read in the dark. This is the first watch I've bought online and the only Ironman I've had that hasn't held up and "kept on ticking" for years. Its made me wonder if this is a true Timex? Or a lemon or if it is from a warehouse bin of left over watches from 5 years ago? Or has Timex simply lowered quality on its current Ironman's and they need to be renamed "Softman Watches"?

Greatest watch I've ever had, but changing batteries is near impossible
This is the 3rd time I've bought this watch. Same brand, same or very similar model. It has a chronometer, timer, alarm, and of course the clock. It has something I think is for "occasions" but I don't know what it does and don't really care about it. The watch is durable. It uses battery power efficiently. The indiglo is second to none. I just really really like this watch.Having said all that, if you want to change the batteries, good luck, you'll need it. Once you manage to get the backing off of it and open it up (which is a little tricky in itself), it's like a comedy routine where you see some stooge open an electrical device and a buncha parts and springs go flying everywhere. And of course, they are so tiny, you'll never find them once they fly out. That was the exact scenario I found myself in the last time I tried to change the battery. It made me so mad I actually bought another brand of watch that I thoroughly researched. But that watch DIDN'T use battery power efficiently, and it had a host of other minor problems that added up to the conclusion that it was not nearly as great as this Timex. So, for the 3rd time, I found myself buying this Timex watch. So it's a wonderful watch in every way except longevity because changing the batteries has historically been a nightmare for me.

Timex Does it Again
Almost loved it. Would be 5 star if I was not slightly annoyed by the IronMan words and logo on the actual watch face. Not a major issue, but a bit distracting and depending on the lighting, they cast a shadow on the face. Overall, great watch. Comfortable and the right size for a medium to large wrist. Not a watch for ladies or men built like ladies or men that want to be built like ladies. Could work for a lady built like a man though.

Everything I need a watch to do.
This is the 5th or 6th Timex Ironman I've owned in about the past 20 years. I wear them until the batteries die, or the band falls apart. Most recently, the Indiglo LED failed on one, forcing me to retire it a little earlier. If you're a clothes horse whose identity is reflected in your watch, this may not be the one for you. But if you're active, this is an excellent choice.I wear it 24/7 until it fails. It goes in the shower/ocean/pool with me, it's my stopwatch on my daily bike rides and walks, it stands up to yard work - digging holes, splitting wood, running the aerator, etc. It's very accurate; I synch it to WWV a few times a year, but it never needs more than 10 seconds or so. It wakes me up in the morning (multiple alarms), and it's always there if I wake up in the middle of the night and need to know what the time is.One of life's little ironies is that in the old days, the most accurate watches were the most expensive ones, due to the jewels in them. Today, the cheap ones like this are the most accurate due to the crystal controlled digital circuitry.Sometimes a man is sentimentally attached to a tool... I feel the same way about this one as I do my Workmate or my Craftsman socket wrenches.

One of the Best Watch for the Price
Second time purchase of this model. The strap on the first one broke after 5 years and the original battery is still in it. Just found out that you can purchase replacement swap from Timex direct or through retail stores like Walmart and Target. The replacement straps are about $12. I mentioned this because as other reviewer of this watch or similar mode, the major con is the strap seems to break after several years. The other con of this watch is that the “start/split” button which is used to change time zone is on the face of the watch of the watch. It is slightly raised, so it is easy to accidently change time zone when sleeping. This watch looks good, very rugged, have taken it out many times snorkeling and shows no indication of water leakage. The oversize display is easy to read. The indigo light makes the watch easy to read at night and the night feature when turn on, will auto-light the display when any button is pressed. I travel a lot and really like the three time zones.Another hidden feature not mentioned by others is the custom menu feature. You can selectively pick the features you want to use and reduce the number of features you have to cycle through. This is an excellent everyday watch, very rugged, and accurate. On the previous one, I didn’t have to reset the time at all during the 5 years of use.The number for Timex Support is:If you can't find your strap, you can also order one by calling our Customer Service Department at 1-888-727-2931.I also had the traditional size display before discovering the oversize mode. The oversize is a lot easier to read.

Tough as old boots.
This is my second of these. The first was lost in a hedge whilst hedge cutting at work. I use mine every day outside whilst running my gardening business - it is constantly covered in mud, getting bashed, but is as rugged as anything. I like the large stop/ start button on the front for the stop watch - this makes it easy to start the stop watch when I get on site.Another useful feature is the ability to customise the displays. It has 3 alarms, stopwatch and timer, all of which can be deselected from appearing as you scroll through the modes. This is useful if you only use it for a few of the functions. I never use the timer or the alarms, so makes it easier to switch between time and stopwatch when pressing the mode button.

Great watch, great design, great nod to the Ironman colours. Would be 5star aside from small issue described in my review...
I love Timex Ironman watches. They've been my favourite since my first many years ago. I actually bought this to replace a Timex Ironman velcro which believe it or not, the plastic part perfectly sheared apart after about 2 years (just out of warranty) in the heat. The rest of the watch looks like it was unworn because I'm very careful of my devices and accessories. But I found this watch here on Amazon sold by 'mymemory' and loved the colour and the fact that it is the Ironman match I've come to love. The only initial sore point is that it's a standard plastic clasp style strap. It seems as if the velcro sports edition that I loved no longer exists. Such a shame. However this plastic strap and clasp is actually very good quality and very comfortable both for casual wear and sports too!The colour is rather traditional and a throwback to their original design (striking orange and black). Further to this, it is quite fitting with many accessories and designers of today, such as Timberland who offer specs (well the frames in trying to) which look like they were designed to conplement each other perfectly. Yes it looks cool. My brother even commented on it, who also incidentally bought me my first Ironman watch as a Christmas present many years ago.Ok. So the only fault I found if any, although I might be considered picky. Is that there appears to be some sort of dust or foreign object between the glass/plastic casing. In normal daylight this is not noticeable, but is visible when the neon blue backlight is initiated. So what she's this mean I hear you say? (Well maybe you do, maybe you don't). Well not too much to be fair, but for me personally, I immediately noticed it when I first pressed the backlight, in that I see some black dots. Before I scare people of the watch though, I would like to note that these do not affrct the function nor usability of the watch. Rather (much like the odd dead pixel would be on an LED/LCD TV) they are only an issue when in pure darkness and the light is initiated when paying full attention to their location. So, I hope this explains why I dropped the one star on this occasion, else I wouldve been very happy to give 5stars.Other than the one fault I mentioned, I am very pleased with the watch and hope it lasts me many years or more.

Recommended.
It's very functional and the actual module is great, everything you need. It is let down by its plastic face that scratches easily as it's not recessed and cheap materials, I would still recommend timex, the light is great, the alarm chimes are louder than competitors. Very nice layout of functions. Yes buy it if you want a easy to use beater watch.

Rugged.
This is our family's 4th or 5th purchase of the Timex Ironman. My full time athlete sons wear them all day training + shower + swim and we've never had one fail in less than 3yrs. The coloured rubber around the face does eventually surrender to salt/sweat/ abuse but batteries and watch body are super.

I am a little disappointed in teh size
I am a little disappointed in teh size. i bought the large one but it's not as large as my GShock. I wanted this specifically for running and i'll still use it for this i just personally like a larger watch. It's about medium sized compared to my GShock. That said, everything else is good. The materials it's made from are good quality, it's lightweight, comfortable to wear and easy to use. I'll keep the watch as I bought their largest one, and besides that personal preference of mine, it does what I bought it for.
