Don't make the mistake I did!
I made my purchase May 30, 2017 and left it in the box on the boat until today 2020. I bought it in preparation to do offshore sailing but because I am just bow able to leave, I did not install it until needed. The unit flashes one green light when power is supplied and then nothing. The according to the manual this should not happen. I downloaded the newest software to my PC, plug in the AIS 650 and the PC says it can not communicate with it even with the updates USB Drivers and software update. At this point it is looking like I received a bad unit and because I assumed a new factory product should be fine and waited, it looks like I have lost a significant amount of money for a nonfunctioning unit because I am now in Central America with no way to send it to Raymarine and about to sail to New Zealand. The instructions also say the unit is suppose to be programmed by the dealer selling it with your information. If the seller had done this then I would have received a functioning unit that had been tested when programmed. I can understand why so many other boaters are moving away from Raymarine to B&G electronics.
