Quick Books 2013: The Missing Manual
This book is a NECESSITY!! After purchasing the software program QuickBooks Pro 2013 for $149.99, I was extremely frustrated in trying to find ways to understand the program! Having absolutely no previous accounting background, this program NEEDS guidance!!! The drop down Help Menus in the program MAKE NO SENSE when you haven't any idea what they're talking about. After contacting INTUIT, the manufacturer of QuickBooks, their customer service wouldn't help me UNLESS I PURCHASED A ONE YEAR SERVICE CONTRACT FOR $299.99!! Talk about a company NOT CARING for its customers, INTUIT certainly doesn't! I found online QuickBooks courses ranging from $479.00, to day long courses for $279.00, or one-on-one help for $75/hour from book keepers who wanted to be hired to do your accounting! When I stumbled upon Bonnie Biafore's 'Quick Books 2013 Getting Started' and her 'QuickBooks the Missing Manual' I felt vindicated! I was beginning to think that I was crazy feeling like I didn't have the proper skills to figure out the program on my own!! Nonsense! Everything is easy once you know how to do it, and Bonnie Biofore's Manuals are what you need! For a very small fee ($14.99) I downloaded her Manual onto my Kindle, and have used it to set up 4 companies now! Thank you, Bonnie, for writing this, and helping all the frustrated people like me when software companies are so ready to take our money and leave us hanging with the proper tools to use the program. I want everyone to know that the QuickBooks 2013 is NOT a flawless program, and INTUIT is a company that doesn't really care about its customers. They are in it for the money! Without Bonnie's book, I would have been spending an additional $200 MINIMUM just to figure out where to start with QuickBooks! 'QuickBooks 2013: The Missing Manual' saved my pocketbook, saved my sanity, and made me feel encourged again!

Very Helpful
This books was bought because the company using QB needed some more solutions, even though they were already using the program. This book broke everything down into the simplest terms, so that new solutions to the problems could be found. Anyone from a noobs to QB aficionados can benefit from this book. Also to the reviewer that said "Pre-purchase literature is skimpy" since it doesn't work for Macs, they are just highly unintelligent. There's this big orange sticker on the cover (and on the thumbnail picture in the description-I'm looking at it right now) that says "Covers Quickbooks for Windows". Can't get any more clear than a big orange sticker guys. Wonder if that reviewer wonders what those big red octagonal signs are when they are driving down the road....

Very good
I sat down over Christmas time and read this cover to cover. There are many helpful shortcuts and how tos that were helpul.I had been migrating to QB from spreadsheets, so this went from basics to advanced and answered my leftover questions. It could stand to be twice the length. Some material could be expanded, like setting up and troubleshooting on a network, with multiusers and login issues. In my opinion QB has a number of quirks that don't make sense. One of which is so many buttons which are really ads for upgrades right in the middle of the product. This book is afraid to offend QB and tries to put all the quirks in a positive light rather than saying they are quirks.

Still too technical
Perhaps this book is meant for people who already understand Quickbooks and its features. I did not and this book was way too technical to help me to understand how to use the program. I gave up and resold the book. If you don't already a good understanding of Quickbooks, perhaps look for a Complete Idiots Guide or Dummies Guide first.

Very thorough!
What you are looking for is definitely somewhere in this book!!I personally find that I have to keep sticky notes tucked in places to tie all of one topic together, as it often takes going back and forth to various sections to put a complete picture of a specific focus area over which I am I trying to gain a grip. But then, I may simply be a linear thinker and not as comfortable with information pieces scattered throughout many different sections. All in all, quite comprehensive. Not a book that you might sit and read through, but one that should become an indispensable resource.

A must have for all users!
If you aren't proficient in QuickBooks, YOU NEED THIS! I've just installed this new software into our business computer. I love the software, but needed something to help me navigate my way around within the software. This is the perfect companion. Easy to read and understand. Excellent index. Tons of really useful information. Well-laid out. Reasonably priced, although IT SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE BOX WHEN YOU BUY THE SOFTWARE FOR THAT MUCH MONEY!

Excellent resource for using a robust program
QuickBooks is a multifaceted program with many robust elements in it for the business owner. It has multiple layers and functions. However the program doesn't come with a manual and so when I had questions needing answers I purchased this book. I am delighted with it.The book provides clear explanations and answers on everything you want to know about QuickBooks 2013. I keep it at my desk for ready reference.I recommend this book to anyone using QuickBooks 2013.

Loads of info
I decided upon rec. book that it was a lot of information in which it was doubtful I could remember all of it. So I have decided simply to use as reference as I run into things I am confused on or simply can not find. To date I have only found one issue it hasn't been helpful with. That was setting up the program to communicate with my email which is attached to my website.
