More processing power, shared USB & WiFi bus still sucks.
The Pi4 packs more processing power, enough to actually be quite pleasant to use. However, the WiFi and USB bus are shared or have bad drivers, which makes continuous live stream of USB cam over WiFi a pain, if not impossible. There were constant kernel crashes, had to switch to Ethernet for it to get going. I won't be trusting the WiFi chip of this with anything critical since the whole Pi might freeze. Bummer when that is the purpose I bought this for. Also, it heats up pretty quickly, so you need a case and cooling fins and perhaps fans, depending on your need.

The Raspberry Pi 4 (2GB) is one of those pieces of hardware that just flat-out delivers for what it is. For a small board, it’s surprisingly capable. You’ve got a quad-core 64-bit processor, USB 3.0, dual display support, built-in WiFi/Bluetooth—it’s a huge jump over the older Pi models. I’ve used this for a variety of projects, and it handles typical workloads like a champ—things like home automation, lightweight servers, media setups, and general tinkering. It’s stable, reliable, and just works once you get it set up. That said, let’s keep it honest—the 2GB RAM version is the limiting factor. It’s fine for most basic to moderate uses, but if you start stacking services or trying to treat it like a full desktop, you’ll hit the ceiling pretty quick. It’ll do it… just not gracefully. Where it shines is efficiency. Low power draw, small footprint, and enough performance to handle real tasks without needing a full PC. It’s one of those tools that earns its keep if you’re using it for the right job. Build quality is what you’d expect—simple board, no fluff. Just know you’ll need a proper power supply, cooling (especially under load), and storage to get the most out of it. Bottom line: still one of the best bang-for-your-buck single-board computers out there. Just don’t expect the 2GB version to behave like a modern desktop, and you’ll be happy with it

It runs 24/7 and just keeps going. Do not skimp on the power supply, the OEM one works best.
