Excellent beginner tool to teach small children coding. My grandkids love it!

My toddler loves robots! I snagged this Tale-Bot Basic to give her a more hands on experience. I have to say, I am not disappointed! We have named this little guy "Ghost", and he is so much fun! For starters, I will say I know next to nothing about coding. The instructions are so clear and straightforward even my 2.5yo was able to grasp it in no time. The story mode setting is cute, but my toddler was not patient enough to get through it. We spent most of our time on the free style mat and practicing the challenges. This proved great practice for color recognition, counting, and cause and effect. I would read off the challenge to my toddler as "press the orange button 4 times. Now hit play." She was able to complete the tasks mostly independently, and she was delighted to make the robot dance! We did have the robot "draw" with some dry erase markers to the absolute astonishment of my toddler, and I am pleased to report clean up is a breeze. The mat and robot both wipe off nicely with a baby wipe. Overall, we love this guy! This is such a cute screen free toy that allows your child to learn useful skills through play. It's a hit for me!

This one is a lot bigger than the Pro version of tale-bot possibly due to it requires 3รAA batteries. The eyes do not light up though and the sensor underneath doesn't always work. The motors for the wheels also make clicking sounds from time to time. Overall, it looks cheap and bunny and lacks features from its Pro version. Would recommend getting the Tale-Bot Pro version. It is a lot smaller, no need for AA batteries, eyes can light up, better features.

This little Tale bot is such a cute way to teach beginners coding to your little one. We started very basic so my son could understand the cause and effect relationship between each button he chose to push. The instructions are very clear and set up is super fast. The automatic story mode is fun but my son was ready to create his own magic. He spent about an hour playing with me where I would have him tell me what he wanted the bot to do before he programmed it and then discussing what went right or wrong before clearing the program to try again. He caught onto the premise very quickly and was increasing the number of commands each time to reach different outcomes. It reminds me of the Big trak i had back in the 1980s but this is way cuter
