Technivorm MoccamasterThermal 1L Carafe, One Size, Silver

I liked this product when it was new, but I had to replace the thermal carafe once already due to a failure where it stopped keeping coffee hot. Then 4 years later the same thing happened to the replacement. The technivorm coffee maker was already expensive, but I justified that it was simple and robust and individual parts could be replaced. I didn't consider that such an expensive part would basically be considered consumable and I would have to re-buy it every few years. It's basically a $20 a year operating cost. I have other thermal cups and thermoses that are older than my carafe and they are fine, so I feel like there's a design or manufacturing defect in these.

Pricy for what you get. But the quality is fantastic

Love this replacement! Better design than previous one.

I love my moccamaster but wanted a new carafe that was insulated. There are two odd elements to this unit: 1) There is an insert that goes into the pot that streams the coffee directly into the pot, keeping it hotter. After brewing you have to remove the insert to put on the lid., messy. 2) As in the picture, the mouth is completely round; i.e. no angled pour spout. Easy to spill, surprisingly not a great design IMHO.

As expected

When we have guests over, there is not enough coffee to go around, so we make a pot, pour it into this thermal carafe, and then make a second pot in the glass carafe. This thermal carafe does not fit on the Technivorm KBGV, but if you're looking for a solution for too many guests, not enough coffee, this is a great option.
