Q: Are the posts (whatever portion that comes in contact with your skin) plated with gold?

No, but I think it’s either silver or surgical steel because those are the only two metals other than gold I can wear in piercings. I’ve worn these everyday for a couple weeks now and had no issues at all. The gold does wear off I’ve found... but I did dip them in rubbing alcohol when I first got them, and wear them in the shower. That being said I actually still love these- really comfy to wear 24/7.

Q: What is the base metal?

The description says that the metals are 14k gold-plated brass. Probably only the post is 14k plated sterling silver

Q: What is the diameter of the hoop?

I don’t know the diameter, but it is very small. Personally, I like that. It’s snug on the earlobe.
