Beautifully animated by Kyoto Animation (Clannad, Free!, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya), Hyouka tells the story of disenchanted high school boy Hotaro Oreki. Rarely one to go out of his way to do anything for anyone else, Oreki is pressured by his older sister to join the school’s Classic Lit Club in order to keep it from being abolished. There he meets Eru Chitanda, a kindhearted and inquisitive girl who’s joined the Classics Club for “personal reasons.” Oreki is immediately drawn to her, but finds her endless energy a little overwhelming. After the pair is joined by Oreki’s best friend Fukube and the fiery Ibara, the club is complete. Left to their own devices the four students quickly get off track when Oreki’s talent for solving mysteries sparks Chitanda’s boundless curiosity. She has a mystery of her own to share, but first she needs to make sure Oreki’s the right man for the job. Review: Fun - A good anime about a freind group who connect with each other, smidge of romance, coming of age. Main focus on MC who has a sister that drops him vague clues throughout story which allows him to peace the story together. Mystery, thrilling, funny, easy to watch, wanting more. Good animation, subtitles match the scenes. A good watch. Review: Relaxing, beautiful anime - Hyouka is about a high school boy, Houtarou Oreki, who has a knack for solving mysteries but has made conserving his energy as much as possible his way of life—until some advice from his older sister leads him to join the Classic Lit club, where he meets a girl named Eru Chitanda, whose intense curiosity may lead to the end of his energy-conserving ways. It's a lighthearted, relaxed story of mysteries, usually the kind that would come up in everyday life. Based on a series of novels (not light novels; the difference being there were no anime pictures in those books), Kyoto Animation brings this story to life, and as usual, their work is stunning. Wonderful character designs, creative, expressive scenes in nearly every episode, and unbelievable attention to detail. Even if you don't like the story, you've gotta appreciate the artistry in this animation. Hyouka's definitely a favorite series of mine. There isn't much in terms of bonus features in this set, but just owning the whole series in one package is still worth it.

Average
This show isn’t bad and it’s pretty good. I enjoyed it and it was entertaining. The characters were all just ok Chi, hotaro, and Satoshi are all pretty bland and although I didn’t really like any of them they weren’t bad. Mayaka was by far the best character in the show. It also comes across as a gimmicky mystery show that when you view it as a realistic show like it seems to present itself as it’s kinda ridiculous. That being said the animation is incredible and I feel like it had a lot of potential but it came up a little short. It’s a good one to add to my collection and I don’t have any problem with it, it just doesn’t make it to the level of other anime I’ve watched. It’s very kid friendly which is unusual for most anime, but there are the rare occasions of some mild language but definitely PG rating. No sexually inappropriate material, girls are adequately dressed, no inappropriate camera angles, and all romance is acceptable. There is a “public bath” scene but again no sexual material and for those who have seen avatar the last air bender when uncle iroh is in the hot spring that’s essential what you will get here. Again good show just not great and it has great animation but fell short of greatness as a whole and too much gimmicky mystery.

Intriguing slice of life comedy mystery
I enjoyed this show it has the right amount of intrigue and mystery with a relaxing down to earth slice of life feel. The main character also has tremendous growth over the course of the show which is something you don’t always see, plus it has good comedy. I’d recommended this for just about everyone who enjoys anime or TV in general, it’s a very likable show. There’s some romance too, although it’s not the focal point. I wish they could’ve done a second season, but it’s perfect the way it is. If you’re interested in more in depth review and information check out MAL!

This Show is a Gem
This show is one of my favorites ever. This show brings us characters brought to life by Kyoto Animation. The main characters are some of the best presented of any show I've ever seen. The main case is very likable, and presented in a way that they feel they could be real. But this show has a very artistic way of showing how it's characters feel as well. It's a calm, yet thought provoking series. Not something for those looking for something action pact. And the series isn't as straight forward as most dramas. But the character interactions, thought provoking mysteries, and stunning animation are what make this series stand out. #HelpKyoAniHeal

Great series, the only drawback is it's over
This is a great series that's along the lines of slice of life with a dash of mystery solving, but at relatively low stakes (the cast is not finding themselves in life and death situations). While the story ends in a satisfactory place, it definitely could have benefited from another season. Unfortunately the author was killed in the Kyoto Animation fire, so this excellent series has reached it's conclusion.

Why is no one talking about this show??? I'm a huge fan of Kyoto Animation for their unique story telling they always provide and Hyouka carries on with it! The characters are so well rounded, adorable, and relatable! AND THE ANIMATION IS SO BEAUTIFUL! <3 If you are looking for a high school slice of life with a pop of mystery, romance and a dash of psychology you need to buy this anime!

KyoAni’s Love Letter to Anime
Hyouka is a series about the little mysteries in life. Very original and beautiful to look at, if you like SoL, don’t miss this gem. Kyoto Animation has done a wonderful job with Hyouka, proving to the world that pictures are worth a thousand words!

Very good show
Really entertaining show with characters with depth. Ending is a bit of a blue baller but none the less well worth the price definitely recommend.
