Basic scanner adequate for documents, but defects occur frequently
I had purchased this scanner in Dec 2018 and it worked without any major problems until around Dec 2020, during which period I scanned a few thousand documents. The scanning quality was adequate (for documents), though after a year of usage it did give a slight greyish blue tint to the white background, which was mostly corrected by cleaning the optical sensor. One has to be careful with old (and valuable) documents, especially those which may be torn, as these may get caught in the feed mechanism. After some experience, I used to feed only one at a time. Also, make sure you check for and remove all staples, as they too tend to jam the paper. Unlike a printer though, clearing a paper jam is quite easy by releasing the catch. However, in Jan 21 the front optical sensor of the scanner failed for the first time, resulting in it becoming essentially unusable. I had to call the Fujitsu Service Centre, and after some delay (caused largely because of the lockdown restrictions) got the optical sensor replaced which cost me around Rs. 7000. With this new (or reconditioned?) sensor, I managed to use the scanner again for about 4 months before the earlier problem recurred. So now I am again left with a scanner, which is out of warranty, unusable, will cost too much to again repair and will not even fetch a decent resale price, being defective. On the plus side, during the periods when it was working well it has given good service, though whether the number of pages scanned is worth the cost and hence value for money is debatable.
