The square holes were misused miscut so the bracket wouldn’t attach

High quality newels, plan ahead for cutting
We recently finished completely redoing our staircase with materials (handrail, balusters, and newels) from House of Forgings. Everything we purchased was high quality, well packaged and delivered promptly. Highly recommended.These newel posts, in particular are beautiful and very sturdy. They are 1.5 inch square solid metal. We used an angle grinder to cut ours with no problem, but keep in mind you will need a tool like this. Also the foot and mounting bracket are sold separately from the same seller.

Does not work without the support and the seller does not have the support to sell it
What a terrible mistake this was! Was too heavy, it costs more to return than the item itself. Without the base, this item cannot be installed. House of forgings does not have the base for sale and they will not. take the item back. I've been trying to work on amazon with this item for 6 months now.... Waste of money.

Renovating a house and this style made an old place have a nice new feel to it. Very sturdy and easy to install, great craftsmanship and quality for a small price

Cover opening is far too small to fit over the mount- needs serious milling to work.
I'm not an idiot so I can find an even better way to cover the mount - but be warned, if you purchase this, you're getting screwed on the final design and the money spent.
