roomy, keeps you protected
Just what I wanted. I'd worn a windbreaker type rain jacket for 10 years that really didn't protect me from any storm greater than a drizzle. This jacket is very comfortable (roomy), and has a nice weight that feels like it will last 20 years, and really protects me from the rain. Even the zippers are engineered to protect from the rain and wind, and feel like high quality parts. Note, it does run a bit big (IME), but I decided that it will fit over a puffer vest or sweater if need be. Love mine.

Poor quality, much warmer than a light jacket needs to be
I found that this jacket doesn't really breathe as well as I'd like. The hood was enormous, and to make that worse, the pullstring for one side of it popped out of its stitching the first time I tried to use it. I expect better from Carhartt, and this item was definitely a letdown.

***NOT WATERPROOF***
I bought this in August 2014. This jacket is nicely made but it is definitely not "waterproof" as advertised in the description. After 5 minutes in a medium rain the shoulders soak through, apparently through the seams of the inner membrane. I would have returned it but the return time passed before I wore this in the rain. Look elsewhere for a true waterproof work jacket.

Great jacket and a great company
Great jacket for my dad who works outside in the weather as a tree climber. Lightweight, durable, fits well just wish the hood was detachable.The sender also delivered very quickly even with a snow storm right before Christmas and it came with a catalog for other great items they have.

Great Lightweight Raincoat
Great quality jacket. You get what you pay for with this item. I've been looking for a great quality rain jacket for a while and I'm glad I chose this one. It's a little larger than a typical XXL but doesn't look like I'm swimming in it. I tried on the XL and XXL in a store and decided that the XL would fit fine, but I wanted a little extra room in case I want to wear layers underneath or if I ever gain weight. I highly recommend this item.

Lightweight rain gear that does an excellent job at what its intended for
Lightweight rain gear that does an excellent job at what its intended for. I work roads and grounds for a community college in my area and this does an excellent job keeping me dry without cutting off air circulation and allowing me to stay cool in warn weather. Not sure why other people have complained about getting wet as I have been outdoors wearing it for hours during substantial rain and haven't noticed anything more than slight moisture in areas where working caused momentary exposure to the neck and wrists.

Better than any Columbia out there
This thing is great!! You can buy a Columbia cheaper, but this is better the fabric doesn't have that plastic bag sound when you walk. Its alittle heavier than I thought it would be compared to columbias but far better quality and breathes better. No way is wind going to force water in and it dries in no time without having a funky smell to it. Just far better quality than other rain jackets out there. Carhartt always is my go to clothing when I need something that will last.
