Big Man Big Guitar: Popa Chubby Live

Description

Twelve of Popa Chubby's most inspiried blues and rock excursions culled from live concert performances in France. The 72+ minute program spotlights Popa's scorching guitar prowess and includes fan-favorite Chubby tunes plus inspired covers of Willie Dixon's Back Door Man, the Carter Family's Keep On The Sunny Side and Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah. The program on this CD is not the same as the concurrent DVD release of the same title. Truly a bluesman for the new millennium. --Philadelphia Inquirer I was delighted when Blind Pig Records wanted to release a live CD and DVD of my recent performances. I basically gave them free rein to choose material and was very pleased with their choices. They really put the focus on my guitar work, the roots of my music and the energy we generate on stage. In the case of the live CD, they not only chose some of my favorite originals but also material I do live that I've never included in my studio releases. I think they not only captured the best of me as a guitar player and performer today but also included some of those seminal selections that influenced my career from the very beginning.
