No it doesn’t, as it’s moving parts are on the other side of a rubber membrane. So yes hydroponics are ok

What power supply should i use? just 12v and 6amp battery? i tried with 12vac and 4amp and it made noises but did not suck/pump water

Power on, when the pump working, use the hose to input some water into the inlet. Lift the inlet a little bit to make the water inside the inlet. The side without arrow mark is the inlet. If there is problem, please send email to VerRichcs@hotmail.com.

Can this pump work with mineral oil?

I have pumped warm engine oil one time. The pump was at the same level as the supply and I pumped to a two foot higher level eight foot away through a 3/8 hose. It was not fast but it did what I wanted it to do. I let the pump cool off a couple of times. I use the pumps for all kinds of different products.

Does not have automatic back pressure cut off.

I installed this pump as a replacement on a 12V, 16 gallon tank sprayer. The mounting holes lined up, but I had to improvise spacers. Did not come with electric plug or flow directions. It doesn’t have a back pressure cut off so it only works if you by turning electricity on or off. Would not buy again!
