There's a magnet in the lid to keep it closed and the hinges are very solid and look to be good quality. The amount of picks it holds will vary depending on thickness, but I would say it holds several. I keep a variety of thicknesses, because you never know what someone will ask for. They fit nice and snugly, but not so tight as to make taking them out a hassle. I think it would make a nice gift for the guitar or bass player in your life. It's just a nice box and relatively unusual (I've never seen one before). And it feels like pretty good value for money, I have to say. Very easy to recommend. The gap is large enough for all my picks except a shark fin one which is more because of the shape of these picks. I think it is great value given the wood and quality.
