it's solid, safe and meets my grandaughters need to bang on things....producing sounds that are not irritating to the rest of the family.

We love the sounds from the drum
We love the sounds from the drum. Expect 2 pitches in tone, and 2 different timbres of each pitch. One timbre sounds more flat, the other more rich and, shall I say, hollow. When I purchased the drum I expected 4 different "tones". Technically, there are. Just 2 of the same pitch.My son, whom I purchased the drum for, did not analyse the purchase quite as much, but has enjoyed the drum. At 10 months of age, he knows how to use a mallet and likes noise, but at this age we do supervise.

The wood is not super well assembled
The wood is not super well assembled, and the "tones" are very weak. The much more expensive slit-box designs, and traditional xylophones are much more educational and interesting to our baby.

Go for the cheap tin drum- this may look cool but my kid would rather bang on a pot.
Didn't produce the sound that I thought. Quite small. Wasn't impressed and neither was he kiddo.

Absolutely love love love this drum
Absolutely love love love this drum! Our son loves playing with it as well as niece's when they visit. Really nice quality and makes a nice sound.

Why can't I get one undamaged?!?
UPDATE: I AM NOW ON DRUM #4 AND IT IS STILL DAMAGED. NO RESPONSE FROM SELLER ON LAST REVIEW AND NO RESPONSE TO EMAIL INQUIRY TO MANUFACTURER. I GUESS I WILL SPEND HARD EARNED MONEY ON DAMAGE PRODUCT BECAUSE MY DAUGHTER LOVES THE SOUND OF THIS DRUM SO MUCH. VERY DISAPPOINTING SELLER/MANUFACTURER. IF YOUR CHILD DOESNT KNOW WHAT THIS DRUM SOUNDS LIKE THEN AVOID IT. TERRIBLE SERVICE.This drum is cute, sounds great and my daughter is in love with it ... Why did I rate it so low?!? We have received 3 of these now because 2 were cracked 9n top and the other had a misaligned top and looked terrible. Im tempted to order a 4th because she loves ot so much but Im beginning to think we will never get one that is in acceptable shape. Maybe the seller can help with this? I am returning the one I received today and am uncertain if I want to continue with this product.
