It comes with software making the install easy.
This is an excellent portable disk drive. I most recently purchased a 2T unit to replace the old one I had in daily use as a backup for almost 10 years. The old one actually failed softly, so I was able to pull off nearly all the data before it completely quit. I now have 4 of these units, and I am quite happy with them all. They are small, rugged, and powered through the data port, so they work easily with a laptop.

Good / Bad Points about this drive
I was happy to find this drive as I always recommend to my students never to buy a drive with only one port - it must have 2 options if a port goes bad so that data can still be recovered before the drive totally dies. I appreciate Lacie Rugged in still having these drives available as any student who bought the cheap one with one port always came to me at a most challenging time when their drive stopped working. How to get all their hard work recovered wo spending so much money to recover. I am only frustrated that the price on the 2 TB doubled since 2018 and very few available - what a rip off. It costs less for the 5TB by far than the smaller capacity. This is not an advantage as anyone knows - 5TB of information on a drive is 5TB to lose. That is why I prefer the smaller capacity. I hope they bring it back at a reasonable price. And finally - who has not lost the cord to a drive at the most inconvenient time? Lacie was brilliant to have one that wraps neatly around this drive + you have the other one to lose.

The LaCie Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C 4TB Portable Hard Drive is a reasonably priced option to store any of your valuable photos or files on a portable drive which may be isolated in some "safe" place so they never get lost even if you computer or raid cease to function properly.

Nice brand but this drive is too SLOW
I’ve had many of these Orange Lacie drives. This 4TB speed is about 130mb/s advertised at 3000. Wow!! My 8 year old Orange drive is twice as fast.

No such drive
There is no such thing as a "LaCie 2TB Rugged Thunderbolt USB-C External SSD". The closest real device is a SPINNING drive, not SSD.

Als amateur fotograaf kan ik dit apparaat van harte aanbevelen. Snel, makkelijk in gebruik en werkt zowel met Windows als op Mac. Voorlopig kan ik vooruit met 5TB!

Excellent disque de stockage - Comme tous les disques externe, je déconseille de travailler dessus. Silencieux - esthétique - costaud et surtout en thunderbold 3 sur mon iMac très rapide. Prévoir l'achat d'un câble.

数少なくなっているThunderbolt HDDなので、無くなる前に買っておこうかな、と思って手に入れました。同じシリーズのFirewireのHDDを使っていましたが、同じく何も問題なく使えてます。5TBでこの価格なら良いかなと思います。

Everything it should be; sturdy and fast. Comes with USB3-USB3 cable and USB3-USB standard cable and an extra cap for the socket area. Love it. Todo lo que debería ser; robusto y rápido. Viene con cable USB3-USB3 y cable USB3-USB estándar y una tapa adicional para el área del enchufe. Quiéralo.
