OtterBox iPhone XR Defender Series Case - Black

It’s a great phone case. It fits my IPhone XR perfectly. It was easy to put on and the price was better than buying it from the phone store. I love that it clips on my belt and it’s a heavy duty case. I work outside and this case definitely protects my phone, I recommend it.

Let’s just cut straight to the chase. I dropped my phone before I got this case, cracked the back glass on my Xr, luckily it was just fractured, 1 crack. big crack. But just 1. I immediately ordered this case because it had a rotating belt clip, and a 3 part case, with the clip housing acting as another layer of protection. Now, I’ve since broken the clip, reordered, and broken the clip again (both times my fault, the clip is amazing when your not ripping it off on steel racks), so I’ve taken it as a sign to stop wearing the clip, but the performance of the case alone, has sold me for all future phones. I run NO screen protector with this case, and I feel just fine. I’ve dropped this thing so many times I’ve lost count, and I’ve dropped it face down multiple times. The raised beveled edged combined with the impact shell, have always saved this phone. Like I’d say there was 2-3 time that my phone SHOULD have been broken or at least cracked, and to my surprise, it’s unscathed. I take it out of the case some times to admire the single crack that hasn’t moved an inch since I got it. And that’s the other crazy part, all of those impacts, were after the phone was already damaged. If you know glass, that’s pretty impressive impact protection for cracked back glass to not progress. This thing is legit, and if you have a screen protector, you’re safer than safe. Highly recommend if you’re still unfortunate enough to be rocking an iPhone X, but they have all the sizes, so it’s not an issue anyway. I can personally attest to the quality of the X case 100%, and if their other products are made to the same quality, then you have no worries. I always love finding actually good, strong products on amazon.

I have an older phone. I had completely broken the original otterbox after years of abuse!!! A new one fit perfectly.

Very durable phone case. I did not give 5 stars, because no instructions were with the case. Everything else was perfect.

April 2024 edit: Well, the belt clip failed as I went through a narrow door opening and it hooked. Snapped right in half. Not their fault. Now I need to seek a replacement from the MFGr. Original review: This is Otterbox #3 for me. Last one was for an iPhone 6s. This current purchase was for the new (to me) iPhone Xr in July 2023. I'm cheap, so I buy the older phones. And as it happens, the older model Otterboxes are much cheaper as the newer phones keep their newer boxes on the popular lists. I scored this one and a glass screen protector for $40-ish. Super durable, and well-made. Fits the phone perfectly and comes with what my daughter calls the "dad holster" for your belt. The last one outlasted my phone (except for the spring-loaded belt clip that broke under seat belt stress) and I'm giving it away with the phone to a family friend. It's bulky, won't slip into any shallow cracks, and you can drop this thing from the bar and likely not hurt your phone one bit.

Excellent case. Will not protect your phone from an 18 wheeler running it over, but it kept the pieces together. 😂 Every time I get a new phone I buy one of these, I think I'm on my 5th or 6th. I usually only upgrade phones *after* the replacement battery stops charging or Apple stops supporting it. I've only had one catastrophic upgrade and I'm not the easiest on phones. It's worth the price, I've been using them since the iPhone 3Gs.

I had my Iphone ZR in the compartment of my 2017 Harley Street Glide in March of 2020. It fell out on a 4 lane highway and landed right in the middle of two lanes of oncoming traffic. I turned around at the next light hoping to be able to salvage the SIM card card, figuring it was completely destroyed. As i got closer I saw MULTIPLE cars hit it. When I go about 5 feet from it, my Bluetooth signal came back up and then I heard the Allman Brothers come back on. The phone suffered a minor crack and still works to this day. I bought a replacement this week July 2025. This phone case is the only one I'll ever buy . Extremely pleased with this product! I'd give it 10 Stars if I could!

These are the best phone cases for a person who is hard on their phones. My husband works in construction and is always dropping his phone from all heights.. Plus he has a bad habit of falling asleep with his phone in his hand at the edge of the bed. He usually wakes up with a jolt when his phone falls to the floor. I would definitely buy one of these again. This case has saved us hundreds in phone replacement costs

It’s my fourth or fifth Otterbox Defender case. I love them, not cheap by far, but they look so cool and really are the best protective and stylish case out there. I’d highly recommend if you don’t mind paying for it.

This is the 2nd one I have bought. First one I caught it badly whilst on belt and it snapped in half. I then bought a Vena model but it was very poor in protection and visually in comparison hence re-buying.
