Outstanding
Bought this headcollar, as our 9 month Great Dane pup was showing signs of adolescence - especially regarding lunging towards other dogs when out on a walk. We have spent lots of time training him (achieved both KC Bronze and Silver awards) and wanted this as a "standby" just in case.Following a walk with 15 other danes of all ages, sex and size we realised that the training alone was not enough to control his Dog Obsession - we had left the Dogmatic at home as we felt we had not fully introduced it to him. The whole walk was disastrous and we were really disappointed. After returning home, we slipped on the headcollar and went for a local walk. Initially, he shook his head and tried to remove the Dogmatic using his front paws, but we continued to walk him and the result was amazing. No lunging towards anything else, no pulling, just controlled heel walking!Even when he did meet another dog, the lunge was cut short and he instantly remained at our side. The lead was still only held loosely by 2 fingers. We continue with the loose lead walking and hope the Dogmatic will be an excellent additional training aid. Once he is fully comfortable with what happens when he pulls, we hope just wearing the headcollar without the lead attached will be sufficient. But this will need some work.Overall a comfortable fit, well made and not confused with a muzzle! Excellent product.

Strong and sturdy and padded
Have had many head collars as my rather large old English retriever pulls terribly and is too strong for me to walk this head collar does the trick but as with the other head collars I have bought he can also slide it off his nose if I don’t watch him on the plus side it does not pull across his snout and does not draw tight as to constrict his airways as with other collars and sits better on his muzzle not digging in and any point leaving marks as I found a halti collar did I think it’s more suited to a dog with longer thinner snout as my retrievers snout isn’t as long as my friends German Shepard and on her dog it seems to sit better all this aside I am pleased with this head collar and can take my dog for walks without being dragged along and more importantly not causing any discomfort to my dog

Persistence is the key if your dog is new to head collars
I bought this head collar for our feisty 7 month old Newfoundland pup, and I have to say the main thing with this head collar is persistence! Especially if your dog has never worn a head collar before. When we first put it on him he was having none of it. I know it can be frustrating when you think you've bought a magical solution and to see it not work straight away but my advice - keep at it! Hard work pays off.We did not try and walk with him in this collar from the start, for obvious reasons - he kept trying to pull it off, and getting the dangly bit under the chin with the hoop on it stuck in his mouth. Our dog had only ever worn body harnesses previously, so this was completely new to him. We knew he wasn't going to like it. Not because it was uncomfortable, but because it was new. This collar won't hurt your dog and you may get upset seeing your little buddy wanting to get out of it, but really he/she just doesn't want it there. It's not doing them any harm, and is the material is nice and padded and will not dig into your dog. Anyway, we have been putting this collar on him just randomly throughout the day, most days since we got it. We would do the usual - make him sit, put on the collar and reward him with one of his favourite treats. Then to take his mind off it we would get his favourite toy and have a bit of play time. I'd advise not to remove the collar if your dog starts to paw at it, as this just means he's getting his own way and is learning if he paws at it you'll take it off. Take it off on YOUR terms - make him sit calmly and remove the collar and reward him.If you remain persistent your dog will eventually stop pawing at the collar to get it off and he won't even mind that it's there. It will take some time and patience. As for walking with the collar, this is something I will have to update at a later time. As it has taken a little while to get him use to the collar, we didn't want to rush walking with him in it too soon. We intend to use both the head collar and his harness to begin with, to ease him gently into getting used to walking with it on. We hope that this will be a good help when he gets overly excited by passers by with dogs. I shall update this review when we have tried this out :)

A head collar that actually works!
As with that other famous product this "does exactly what it says on the tin" I have tried a variety of collars, leads, head collars and harnessess over the years. All have promised much and when it actually comes down to it don't deliver on their advertising. This however is brilliant, made by dog people for dog people. I would happily recommend this to anyone. Following recent health problems, I have found it a strain to walk both of my dogs comfortably, until I bought both of them a Dogmatic. What a difference, walking is now a pleasure again. One of my dogs is quite reactive to other dogs, however with his Dogmatic on, he is much calmer and doesn't even bother to do more than look! My advice buy one, its great!
