GREAT INFO
I bought this as a gift to a friend that is a -negative geek re the computer and he purchased a new computer that had Windows 10. Having barely able to use Windows 7, Windows 10 was like a new foreign language to him. He is finding the Dummies book very helpful and answering many questions. Will it move him out of -negative geek, only time will tell, but the fact that he is reading it is a great sign. The best I can say- "How can it hurt"!!!!

A thorough review of Windows 10
The Windows 10 For Dummies book is thorough and well laid out. A good reference source to find tips and tricks around the Windows interface.

Will Be Obsolete In October
I could have got by without it. Wasn't much new information since all of the other systems since DOS 5 and up.

Educational
Windows 10 is a huge learning curve. But this Dummies Book explains everything you need to know. Sit down with it when you are at your computer. Run into a problem? Look it up in the book, read about it & practice what you read. I highly recommend it. Like all Dummies books, it is better than a User's Manual.

Knowledge is a slow process
This book was to help me move from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It really wasn't much help because I wasn't interested in all the business applications ...just one old lady looking to make a dreaded change. When I found answers to some of my questions, followed the instructions in the book, then would often find that that particular instruction wasn't valid any more. Other 'dummies' may not have my concerns and it could be a very good tool to work with.

Book is a "Lifesaver"
What is NOT to like about this book? It has saved me countless hours of frustration and I have not even had the book for a full day. It is so helpful, so useful, so easy to use. I cannot tell you how much I have learned already, and am truly a happy camper! I am a senior and am starting to feel like a pro (well, not quite) This book paid for itself in the first 5 minutes I used it! Thank you so much, Andy Rathbone. I am so grateful for your wonderful book. If you are struggling with Windows 10, buy this book!

Great book as usual ... my first "Dummies" books were DOS for Dummies and Windows 3.1 for Dummies and they were my go-to reference on computer topics ... I used them for years! Now I have found that I need another book on Windows 10. I appreciate the way the author can explain (what can be complex topics) in plain English, without all the techie gobbledy-gook.

A very good book helps me to understand my operating system a little well and the easter eggs in it . First I got the Windows 10 pro this year in April of 2019 because my Windows 8.1 pro support has ended which was original box pack too. I support the software developer's and all my software's are tax paid and I have the proper bill for it. genuine seller. Thanks for the students like us.

Comparing Windows 10 with previous versions of Windows is akin to comparing chalk and cheese - and that is a gross understatement. After recently purchasing a laptop equipped with Windows 10, which is the norm nowadays, I grew more and more frustrated with this new operating system. It is vastly different to previous Windows operating versions, and I would spend minutes gazing at the screen, trying to figure out where to begin and what I need to do to next. What is OneDrive? What is Windows Defender, and what does it do in the background? To where are my files saved? Why do I lack the self-control which previous Windows versions allowed? Windows 10 seems to be taking control from me and forcing it over to Microsoft. Welcome to the modern world... Andy Rathbone's book explains and Introduces us to the new concepts put forward by Microsoft. The book is well written and covers things clearly without being patronising. It begins by explaining how Microsoft is using, influencing and controlling us to purchase their products - but it also details how Microsoft is making life easier for us. It is undoubtedly among the best "Dummies" books I have purchased. You can use it as a reference book, as the author suggests, simply by jumping to the section required. However, I am so impressed with it, I have gone through it more or less page by page. Sure, there are some items on apps which are self-explanatory to anybody reasonably used to a pc or a laptop. Such people would not benefit much from this book; however, I would much rather risk having information to which I am already familiar, rather than suffer a vacuum of important details. I almost feel that I have a great tutor at my side. Setting up and using Cortana, the voice-operated utility (sorry, I mean "app"), is explained clearly. I was initially dubious about having my microphone active and allowing Microsoft access to my voice patterns for privacy reasons. However, it is useful, much like the home voice-activated devices on the market. The chapter on Windows Defender and security is very welcome. Aside offering beneficial tips on the dangers of internet and surfing, I now know how Defender works and how to alter its settings (carefully and only if one needs to). I had already installed Norton security. If you are among those who are not familiar with modern pcs or laptops, or if, like me, you find Windows 10 so disgustingly and awkwardly different from previous Windows versions, then this book may well be a welcome reward. With a passion, I still despise Windows 10, but with Andy's book, I am able to navigate Windows 10 more competently and confidently than before.
