Marks Mandalas Dotting Tools Kit

I've used numerous tools for dot painting, including wooden dowels, nail styluses, metal punch sets, drill bits, and other tools specifically made for dot painting. Marks Mandalas dotting tools are by far the highest quality and most perfectly balanced set I have used. Because the design is very light weight and is similar to a pencil, they are much more comfortable to hold and easier to use. I have found that even the largest tool makes perfect dots with far less effort than any other tool. Using the tools marked A-D for techniques such as "walking-the-dots" and "comma-strokes/swooshes" is simple and comes out amazing every time.This is not just a set of tools, but also includes 8 paint pots and 6 lesson cards. The lessons coincide with video lessons on Marks Mandalas wesite. The lessons are short but extremely helpful for beginner to advanced. Mark shares tips on alignment, spacing, and even how to load the paint on the tool.These are now my "go-to" dotting tools!

I love these tools. I was using some manicure tools and acrylic rods that I got cheap on Amazon, and they were fine. These tools, though, make it much easier to see where you're dotting and that really helped me a lot. It's more like using a pencil which is a tool we are all pretty familiar with! I also like that the tools are numbered which makes it WAY easier to figure out which one you just used or which one you want to use next. I found it hard to remember that red was bigger than blue... I highly recommend them if you like dotting!

Excellent kit. I've been waiting for these for months. I thought the release day would never arrive. Upon receipt of this set, I couldn't wait to use them. I put aside the dotting tools I had, of which I had accrued a lot, and got busy using Mark's tools, videos and stencils. I was not disappointed. I have since put all my old tools in storage and use Mark's exclusively. I would have to say that my work has achieved a professional look that was lacking before. The videos are short and to the point and very easy to understand. Thank you Mark for a great product.

These tools are the BEST dotting tools I have used to date! They make for perfectly round dots every time. I couldn't ask for a better tool set. The accompanying tutorials and paint pods are pretty awesome too. This kit has everything you need to get started. Mark makes it so easy to create amazing art.....even if you think you aren't an artist, you will be by the time you're done with one of his lessons/tutorials using his dotting tools. Contains a great variety of stencils to use which I liked very much. But be sure to check out the paint right away. My paint was so thick and globby I wasn't even able to dilute it with water. When I tried, the globs still remained. I decided to return this item rather than replace it. I still may purchase it in the future unless I find stencils elsewhere.

Received these as a gift. I used the Lesson #1 to do five practice pieces tonight. I'm a beginner and gave up on my first set of dotting tools - they were awkward and had no instructions. These tools are super comfortable to use. The instructions are step by step and easy to follow. Plus there are videos online if you get stuck or just want to actually see them used. I peeked ahead and it looks like the lessons get progressively more difficult, which means I'll be able to do a lot of cool things with these! They clean up nicely with warm soapy water. Thanks for a super product!

Typical dotting tools can contain metal spheres that are dipped into paint, allowing the drop to be of varying sizes depending on how deep it's been dipped. Mark's dotting tools are a single point in ascending sizes, allowing a consistent-size dot to be placed onto your surface. I've not had great success with "walking dots" with his tools, but I didn't have great success with the same procedure with any dotting tool. So what I've learned to do is 100 times better—I use descending-sized tools to make the dots in smaller sizes... AND DONE!There's also a great advantage in using the larger tools to make larger dots. Previously I had tried different-sized wooden dowels, gluing coins onto pencils, and other methods to make larger dots. These tools have larger plastic "plates" that make consistent dots with a smooth, even surface.I'd definitely recommend and certainly would buy again if I lost my set!

I am sure that this is a cost effective product but it didn't work any better than what I was already using and it cost three times as much. I also found them more difficult to clean off, I literally had to put them in water to get the darker colors off (wiping didn't really do the trick) I found it tasking to find them without the numbers being more pronounced and I didn't feel like coloring them. I don't think I will use them often. I am not saying they aren't great for someone, just not for me. I am new to this and possibly people who are more practiced this might be great, for now I am sticking with what I had already.
