Turns out I'm a Dummy!
I have no idea how to write a business plan. I have great ideas for my own practice as a Nutritional Therapist and Personal Trainer but am clueless as to how to translate those ideas into a business plan. Got this book and within the first chapter I learned a lot! Everything is laid out in an easy to follow format. And I might be a dummy about writing business plans, but I'm pretty darn smart about buying books to help me not be a dummy any longer. Really helped me get things out of my head and onto paper.

A Practical Book On Business Plans
A well written and an easy to read book on business plans. If you can get past the word "dummies," this is as good a textbook on business plans as you will find. It helps insure you ask the right questions. "Business Plans for Dummies" is a good refresher for people who are experienced in business, and an essential for those trying to start a business. I've used the book, and have given away several copies to individuals wanting to start a business.

Business Plans for Dummies
Not having used a business plan for many years I found this book to be easy to refresh my memory as to how to accomplish this task. This is a necessary initial step in business planning and this book made it easy to proceed step-by-step without confusion. I would recommend this to anyone considering a start-up of a new business.

Pretty thorough, lacking examples
I have to say that this book is very thorough and that I have learned a lot from it. Still, I found the book a little boring and cryptic because of its lack of examples and stories. There are so many ideas which are thoroughly explained conceptually, but are hard to visualize - although, in fairness, there are a ton of good stories and case-in-points. [See, for example, how your local paper would explain why Pepsi decided to close a bottling plant, or how Microsoft went about improving Windows 7 - now that's something you can relate to.]Maybe, just maybe, this book is a good refresher for people who did go to business school. I, a high school graduate and avid reader, failed to digest about 35% of the material.

A must for a new entrepreneur or consultant or copywriter who plans to help with business plans
Often, a copywriter is approached to "write a business plan". "Writing" is but a small part of preparing a business plan. This book will guide the entrepreneur, consultant or copywriter through the research and planning work that makes it a plan. The book complements the "Idiot's" equivalent. Buy them both.
