Happy with metallic Pure Gold decorative Edible paint
Had to do much research and read several reviews before deciding what edible gold paint I needed to get for my royal icing sugar cookies. After reading reviews on this one, decided to purchase the Edibleart Decorative Cake Paint in metallic Pure Gold. I did what a few others indicated to do first and foremost shake really well. I was afraid of the taste as a few people had said it had a bad taste. So, I mixed it with a very small amount of pure lemon extract, and a small dash of goldish dust powder to give it shine just in case. I let the white icing dry COMPLETELY before painting over them, and then I also let them dry completely (overnight & into part of the morning /early afternoon) after I painted them.I did make an extra one so I could taste it before proceeding in coloring them all.The gold paint was tasteless! I would recommend this product as long as you do what many have said to do.....Shake well, mix with an extract IF YOU'D LIKE, VODKA OR EVERCLEAR. Just note, I first tried vanilla extract and DID NOT like how it transformed the gold, turned it more of into a copper color. So, I used pure lemon extract since its clear, and it worked out best anyways since my icing does have a hint of lemon to begin with.

Beautiful, but the taste....Ew.
Luckily for me, the part of the cake that I painted with this was able to be removed and didn't need to be eaten, but I got curious when I was done painting and touched the paintbrush with a bit of this on it to my tongue...blech. It is beautiful though!

Would not purchase again
Watery. Terrible taste. Tiny amount for the price. Overall, regret the purchase.

Turns out good!
I bought this product to replace using gold powder mixed with vodka to paint royal icing on cookies. After reading some of the concerns in the reviews, here are my thoughts. Yes, it is expensive for a tiny bottle, but you don't use a lot (or at least we didn't). It is thin and the first coat streaks. So we used another coat. I think 3 coats would be perfect. If you taste it right out of the bottle, you will freak out because it truly is awful. However, once dry on the cookie, you cannot taste it. We needed shiny gold Notre Dame helmets, and this did the trick.

Perfect metallic gold in one sweep of the brush (over piped royal icing)
When a famous cake expert recommended this product above all others she was 100% on-point. I tried for years to find a gold food paint or luster dust or ANYTHING that would give me true metallic gold in one sweep of the brush. It's perfect! It goes a long way, and it dries quickly. They could charge double and I would still buy it. I used it on a little girl's October first birthday with a pink, orange and gold li'l pumpkin theme on pumpkin shaped cookies, name plaques, etc. Basically like the photo. This product is a rare, no-fail miracle!

THIS IS NOT FOOD COLORING!!
I guess I didn't read very carefully but this is NOT food coloring! And I wouldn't use it for anything else either bc the smell/taste was HORRIBLE! Glad other people make it work for them but buyer beware - I must have gotten a bad bottle bc it was disgusting.
