Fits the 2.5L & 4.0L engines. Strong set from the Race True Rollers series
First of all, Thanks to the person that returned their non-fitting set to Amazon, I was able to pick this up for less than the cost of a cheap made in china set. This set is from the Race True Roller series which means both sprockets are heat-treated and hand matched. It also comes with a premium .250 true roller chain and a 3 keyway crank sprocket. In short, it's among the best timing chain products they make. It's also the best timing set available for the 2.5 & 4.0 Jeep engines. The chain only fits 1964-1998 6cyl AMC/Jeep engines and 4cyl 2.5L from 1983-2002. I know there were some changes in 1999 4.0's that affected the XJ line and assume that was carried through all 4.0's which has to be why it doesn't fit the 1999 and up 4.0.The set I received was in perfect condition with a paper on how to set the keyway for proper timing using either the standard or +- 4 deg keyways. It's a bit of overkill (ok, a lot) to use this on my 2.5 but this chain doesn't appear to be going anywhere. My old chain had a lot of sag (about .5 inch) and the tensioner was all the way out. With double the chain and harder, heat treated sprockets, I can't see my 2.5 producing enough torque to stretch or damage the chain. It's a heavy, beast made in the USA of high quality heat treated steel. I like Cloyes timing chains and have used them on my other Jeep motors without issue. I've only ever changed from factory to Cloyes and my jeeps were usually gone before I ever had to inspect them after install. I'm looking forward to at least another 100,000 miles or more out of this one.

So far, so good.
Seems strong and well made. Only complaint was with the marks. The mark on the small sprocket was a little difficult to figure out, even with the installation sheet. Once I compared the new set to the old set though, it was easier to see which mark to use.

Not for jeep 4.0 although part # is right
I give this 1 star because although I checked, double checked and triple checked this part number on here, cloyes own website and somewhere else, it did not fit my 99 Cherokee sport 4.0
