Great woofer for a great price.
Cons: The first thing I noticed on the woofer when installing the speakers is that there is no polarity information on the speaker wire terminals; Also, some of the specs were inconsistent -Amazon listed SPL = 90 Db, 8 Ohms ;Cone material = poly mica cone with butyl rubber surround;Amazon.com's listing and price is for 1 Goldwood GW-8028 pro audio wooferParts Express lists it as :Sensitivity (SPLref) 84 dB/Reference 8Ω/2.83Vrms;Polypropylene cone and rubber surround resist fatigue. That's all the Cons. ....Here are the Pros-Drop-in fit replacement for my old EV MC-8A 8" full range Drivers; The GW-8028 drivers look classy with a Glossy dust cap on a Mat finished cone .Great specs look good on paper and Sound even better! They can play lower bass (25 Hz vs 30Hz) than my subwoofer (Classic Dayton DC160S-8 6 1/2" 8 Ohm Shielded woofer in a classic Acoustic Research AR-622 Ported bass cab with matching 58W Acoustic Research 2.1 Plate Amp (14W x2) + 30 W Bass amp). The GW-8028-8 drivers replaced and upgraded my (Blown) 40 Yr old Electro Voice MC-8A Full range drivers in my 40 yr old DIY floor standing 2.13 cu ft., ported, 3-way , Hi-Fi Stereo speakers. A big improvement in the sound of my old DIY speakers (which already sounded better than my KRK Rokit 5 G2 Studio Monitors). The plan for this DIY speaker upgrade also included a 3-way , Adjustable Passive Crossover boards and a pair of PYLE Bullet Tweeters (PDBT19, 300 Watt, 8 ohms, 2k - 25k hz freq.). after installing the new tweeters and x-overs they sounded great, just a couple crossover frequency changes and they Blew my mind and brought tears to my eyes; They sound Incredible!Note: My Midrange Driver, I believe, are old Magnetdyne 5" Sealed Back midrange Driver with approx 16 oz magnet, 1 " Voice coil, Paper Cone and rubber surround I do not know any other specs for the Magnetdyne 5" Sealed Midrange drivers other than the fact they sound great in my DYI, Hi-Fi Speaker system and they have no problem handling the power of my Yamaha RX-V1400, 7.1 Surround Receiver (7x 110W ).I highly recommend both GW-8028 and the Pyle PDBT19 drivers; don't be afraid to experiment with different Crossovers. The Pyle Pro PDBT19 3.75" Bullet tweeters are amazing. The Tweeters are very smooth, clean, crisp highs. The Pyle Pro PDBT19 tweeters at a great price:(around $20.00/ pair)I also recommend a 3-way config. to get the best sound with these drivers together. However, these two drivers should work well in 2-way bookshelf speakers with x-over around 2.5k - 5k hz.Mty Adjustable Crossovers treat each driver as a discrete output channel and provides 2 crossover frequencies for each discrete output: Woofers (LP)- 800 Hz or 1600 hz ; Midranges (BP)- 800 hz or 1600 hz; Tweeters(HP) - 5K Hz or 7k Hz. I selected the following frequencies to fine tune my DIY Hi-Fi Loudspeakers:Woofers (LP)= 1600 Hz , Midrange (BP)= 800 Hz - 5k Hz, Tweeters(HP)= 5k Hz.3 Way Speaker Crossover - 500 Watt - Evenly Distributes Highs, Mids & Low Frequencies For A Clear Sound Without Distortion - 4 Crossover Combinations - Professional Audio Sound - By GMI Pro3 Way Speaker Crossover - 500 Watt - Evenly Distributes Highs, Mids & Low Frequencies For A Clear Sound Without Distortion - 4 Crossover Combinations - Professional Audio Sound - By GMI Pro

Marked , immediate improvement
Pair of woofers were part of a 3 part upgrade of yamaha ns6490 3 way speakers. The improvement is astonishing to me. They sound profoundly better. The improvement has exceeded my expectations. I polyfil 'd the cabinets. They had zero sound dampening material to begin with. I removed the minimal crossovers , which consisted of 2 capacitors glued to the interior of the binding post cups, and replaced them with actual multi parts crossover components on real circuit boards, which before there were no crossover circuit boards , and I replaced the factory woofers with these gw woofers. They sound better immediately with practically no break in time at all. With these 3 modifications combined the speakers sound alot better. Lack of cabinets being 3/4 inch thick seems to be a non factor. The enclosures have remained sealed . No porting tubes installed. I'm going to leave them sealed. They are part of a 4 speaker 2.0 tube amplifier system. The other 2 speakers are klipsch rp600m ported speakers. Between these 4 speakers and being a bedroom system there is no subwoofer needed in my bedroom. I confirmed that upside down and looking at the speaker connections that the right side terminals are the positive terminals on the speakers. These gw 8028 woofers have made an immediate improvement compared to the stock woofers. The stock woofers were not blown , they simply don't sound as good as the gw 8028. 5 stars categorically. The woofers arrived new and undamaged. I had already made the other 2 aforementioned modifications, so I was used to the improvement by the polyfil and better crossovers. The woofers made them sound even better. In my application, these woofers sound better than the stock woofers right out of the box , even before break in . They have both better bass and more bass than the stock woofers. These woofers have been a valuable part of upgrading theses particularly speakers. The difference with all 3 modifications is far better than I had anticipated.

Floor standing speaker, replacement drives
A little boomy, not very accurate bass response. But for the price they were far more capable then I had expected. Rated at 80 watts rms at 4 ohms. I blew one of the four up after putting 185 watts at 8 ohms doing a 20 hz bass test.

Affordable but a bit muddy
I thought the bass was tight and punchy enough but the mid ranges were buried and indistinct. Maybe my tweeters are not as good as they once were but even if that's the case, I believe that I should still hear vocals better than I can. This company sells a separate midrange speaker. That may be necessary to get those midranges but my bookshelf speaker cabinet was only built for 2 speakers. And if I had a 3 speaker cabinet, I believe I'd go for a bigger woofer than this 8" unit. There's my 2 cents for what it's worth.

High quality, great sound, excellent value
I purchased two of these to replace blown woofers in a pair of old-school Infinity bookshelf speakers. I had to drill new holes to mount them, as they didn't line up with the existing holes. Other than that, they fit and worked perfectly. They sound at least as good as the original Infinity woofers, and were a real bargain especially considering what exact OEM replacements from Infinity might have cost if they were even available (which they're not). I am particularly pleased with these woofers' rubber surrounds - much better than foam surrounds that deteriorate over time. I recommend these particular Goldwood Sound woofers without reservation.

Sound is great for reasonable cost.
Used the woofers to replace shot woofers in my vintage BIC book shelf speakers. Easy install, too.
