A Fun Kit
My son was keen to get this series, and this was the first one we built. It has a few non-standard Knex parts, which could be handy for other builds. The instructions were mostly clear, but occasionally there are a few diagrams that are hard to interpret. But we got there. The robot works as well as can be expected, but is better on some surfaces than others. It can get caught up if you try it on thick carpet, and on very smooth floors it can end up walking backwards.

Perfect present for 7/8 year old boys.
The K'nex Robo sets make perfect presents for 7/8 year old boys. It takes less than an hour for them to make independent of an adult & provides hours of "awesome/epic/super cool" playtime. It's also robust enough to cope with an amount of handling by younger siblings.
