Works well with the Oneida Super Dust Deputy 4"
As noted in the headline, I bought this to use with the Oneida Super Dust Deputy 4" version. The bulging lid does not affect the fit for this unit since it has a wide flange with a lot of bolts. In short, this seems to work perfectly. The pictures above show how I drilled a center hole then made circles with a sharpie to see how the DD would fit. I used a small section of lightweight chain to make a compass to draw my inner circle at 7" from center (14" diameter). The outer circle was drawn with the DD laid on top just to see where the bolt flange would sit.The second picture shows the hole I cut with a jigsaw and the holes I drilled for the bolts. I drilled a hole and added a bolt finger tight then proceeded with more in a star pattern. Of course make sure that all of the holes will avoid the strengthening ribs inside the lid.The third picture is the finished fitted connection. I noted the hole in the front of the unit on the lid so it would be put back in the exact same orientation after removing it to install the gasket. I left it sitting overnight in case the new hole caused any flexing, but I doubt that was necessary. The last picture is the installation of the gasket before screwing it down wrench tight. After getting it back together the seal seems very good. I plan on using the old incense trick to look for any leaks but there is no way I will be globbing on a tube of silicone like I see in a lot of videos.I connected it to my 1HP ShopFox with a short section of flex hose and connected another flex hose with a vacuum fitting to suck up some various accidental and on-purpose dust spills. The Oneida and Eagle drum worked perfectly. My formerly empty collector bag and filter bag got a very small amount of dust. I am considering a direct exhaust outdoors at some point but right now I will cart around the hose and see how well my new toy (I mean personal protection device) works in my little shop.If anything does not work well or if I see any issues others that might help others I will update my review.

Great base for a Dust Deputy
Used as a base to mount The Dust Deputy DIY Standalone Anti-Static Cyclone Separator. Worked perfectly. The lid is thick enough and has enough arch to stand up to the vacuum from either my Ridgid shop vac or Festool dust extractor. I had no problem with deforming or collapsing even when the pick-up hose clogged while the vacuum kept running.Construction notes:1. The bottom of the Dust Deputy needs a 3-inch hole in the drum lid. With a lot of patience and care the hole could be cut with a sharp utility knife but the plastic is thick. A hole saw is the way to go. I used Milwaukee 49-56-0173 3-Inch Ice Hardened Hole Saw mounted on DEWALT DW1803 Heavy Duty 7/16-Inch Shank Quick Change Mandrel (Fits Hole Saws 1-1/4-Inch - 6-Inch).2. For securing the Dust Deputy to the lid I used six 1/4-inch bolts and nuts, which worked fine. I also used washers on both sides and split washers with the nuts.3. It helps to have gasketing between the Dust Deputy and the lid. I cut my own gasket from some shower pan sheet leftovers. That worked very well but took time. It would be quicker to use gasket-in-a-tube like an RTV sealant that is compatible with plastic, or a good caulk. This is the second time I've mounted a Dusty Deputy on a drum. This yellow drum was better than my previous effort. This drum is wider, thus more stable. It's a bit shorter so doesn't get in the way as much. The capacity is amazing. The lid did not need any plywood reinforcement. I like the handles, too.My previous Dust Deputy was mounted on Eagle 1610MB Blue High Density Polyethylene Lab Pack Drum with Metal Lever-lock Lid, 14 gallon Capacity, 26.5" Height, 15" Diameter. That worked fine. The blue drum is narrower and gets through doorways more easily. The blue drum's lid needed reinforcement where the yellow drum's lid was already strong enough. The blue drum has no handles while the yellow drum's handles really help when it's time to empty it.I hope this helps someone who's trying to improve their dust collection.

Paired with Oneida Dust Deputy
I purchased this to capture the dust from an Oneida Dust Deputy cyclone separator in my woodshop. This is attached to my Onefinity CNC machine and a DeWalt shop-vac. Quality is good. Thick sides. Top is a bit flimsy to hold the Dust Deputy but it's working, I could also add a wooden brace on the inside of the lid in the future if needed. It's a bit squat and wider than I expected from the pictures but works well. The metal ring/latch is a bit hard to open at first, tight, but this needs to be airtight and I won't be opening it often. Working as a great solution for a 20 gallon dust collection bin. Would recommend it to others using a cyclone separator

GREAT DUST COLLECTOR BUCKET
I ORDERED THIS ON 11 28 AND IT WAS TO BE DELIVERED ON 12 13 TO 12 15. BUT I HAVE IT IN SERVICE ON 12 1 14 DAYS EARLY THAT IS AWESOME . I TO MOUNTED A CYCLONE TO IT. THE DRUM IS VERY WELL MADE VERY STRONG IT WILL OUT LIVE MOST OF US. THE ONLY SMALL PIECE OF POOR PLANING ON THE MOLD DESIGN IS THE HANDEL HAS NO INDENT FOR YOU FINGERS TO GRIP. VERY FLAT BUT YOU DON'T CARY YOUR DUST COLLECTOR EVERY DAY . WHEN I MOUNTED THE ORNIDA LARGE VORTEX I CUT 2 I/2'' PLYWOOD RINGS OUT TO MATCH THE BASE AND BOLT PATTERN SO THE SLITE CURVE OF THE DOME DOES NOT BOTHER ANYTHING, AND YOU HAVE A FLAT MOUNTING SURFACE FOR THE CYCLONE. AND THE RINGS SANDWICHED THE LID. THIS MADE THE UNIT VERY STRONG AND AIR TIGHT. I SURE WISH I HAD THIS SYSTEM 5 YEARS AGO . MY HOME MADE VERSION WORKED WELL WITH 650 CFM BUT IT DID NOT STOP THE MICRO DUST WITH MY 1300 CFM UNIT I USE NOW. I ALL MOST FORGOT IF YOU ARE USING 4'' LINES AND NOT THE 5 & 6'' IT IS MADE FOR YOU CAN PUT THE 6 TO 4 ADAPTER ON TOP & 5 TO 4 ON THE SIDE . YOU USE A HEAT GUN TOO SOFTEN THE PLASTIC AND THEY WILL TAP RIGHT IN AND LOOK TOTALLY FACTORY YOU CAN'T SEE THE ADAPTER AT ALL . THE BUCKET & CYCLONE MAKES A GREAT TOOL FOR YOUR SHOP WITH OUT SPENDING 1300 TO 2000 $ FOR A CYCLONE COLLECTOR FOR A HOBBY OR SMALL SHOP.
