There are 2 in the package, 1 for each side.

Q: Will these shocks fit a 3 inch lift comfortably?

You'll need to mod the axel mounts. I have an XJ with a 2.5" lift with 3/4 ton springs and 2° shims under the leaf spring perches. The passenger side is fine, but the drivers side sat noticeably lower. They're really nice shocks, worth the effort.

Q: will these fit a cherokee with 3" lift?

I put aftermarket Dorman leaf-springs on the rear of my 1999 Jeep XJ and these shocks. The combined lifted my jeep more than 3 inches, closer to 3.5 inches. Counter to what everyone else siad here, I think they will work. I ended up having to put new 2" taller springs on the front. Then I had to add a 3/4 inch spacers on the front of my XJ in order to level out my Jeep. The back was still slightly higher. After a few months, the level in the back dropped a little and the jeep looks perfectly level. The ride originally with the new leaf springs and shocks was a little stiff (I think this was primarily due to the new leaf springs). Now that is dropped a little in the back, the ride is very smooth. FYI - I had to slight drop the Transmisstion 3/4 inch to eliminate a driveline vibration when I accellerated. This also confirms (in my mind) that my lift is cleary over 3 inches.

It will lift a stock suspension about 1 to 1.5" depending on your leaf springs. I put the Crown 3/4 ton leaf springs and these on my Cherokee and got a 2.75" lift with stock shackles
