Fantastic, addicting game
Okay this, is Grand Theft auto with no police if it was a game about skateboarding. If that doesn't convince you, then I don't know what will but here is a short description of the game:It's a freeroaming skate game, with a surprising amount of freedom and fun for a game about just skateboarding. I never play games about sports, so there might be something better out there, but even if you've never played a game about skateboarding in your life this game will appeal to you.You get a very large town to explore, and no area is off limits no annoying invisible walls, plenty of things to do, you can preform tricks with other skaters, shoot photos of yourself and video footage to promote your company, or just ride around doing whatever you want. My favorite part is riding around and doing anything you want.you can even bash people in the head with your skateboard and annoy them by skating around or into them. Just spend your time aggravating people and hurting yourself, what could be more fun then that? The only thing I would suggest they do to improve this game is make the instructions on how to preform certain tricks just a little bit clearer and easier to access... Some of them are difficult, or maybe i just suck at skating games who knows?I've never even touched a skateboard and I love this game.

Great alternative to Tony Hawk games
I bought this for my younger brother who loves to play skating games. So far, I can tell he really likes it and he's told me it's easy to control and has a lot of fun missions, which is true. The controls are a lot different than Tony Hawk games in one aspect because instead of pressing the A,B,X,Y buttons to do cool combo moves, you flip the analog stick in specific directions to perform your combos and do different moves. This game also has TONS of missions that will keep any young boy or girl interested in it for a long time.I'd recommend this to anyone looking to buy their child or younger relative a new skating game. This game may be almost 4 years old now, but that doesn't stop it from being one of the best skating games. Also, this game is great for older individuals as well. (I mainly meant this review for people who were looking to buy this for younger individuals, but this game goes both ways.) Either way, this game is a great buy.

Great and better than it predecessors -Long live THRASHER SKATE AND DESTROY!
I'm going to get this out right away: In order to download user created skateparks YOU MUST PURCHASE DLC. Some versions of this game COME WITH the DLC, this one, the Platinum version comes stripped. The description says "Upload" the skateparks that you create, but still the mentioning of PURCHASING ADDITIONAL DLC to make this game complete on this page, the description, and the game box itself is hidden or nonexistent! That being said, there are several DLC packs to download. Go on xbox live website to view them. All together your probably looking at spending another $45 (roughly). Don't get me started on DLC. It's obviously not going away and you can look at it 2 ways: Complete games in today's generation cost $100 or more. (No more $60 games). Or you can wait 6 months to a year for the super platinum game of the year special edition to come out and get everything for $40 or so. Ok, I'm done.Having played Skate 1 & 2, yes this game is better than the two. They give you skateparks to customize. Picture a big empty warehouse that you can design to your hearts content with ramps, rails, boxes, really anything. Being able to download user-created skateparks sounds awesome, though I haven't tried it since I haven't purchased the DLC yet. This really adds longevity to the game. BTW, you need to progress in the story line to unlock boxes and ramps to use in your custom skatepark. The game does seem to get old a little too quickly for me and the flick-it controls, although refined, are still frustrating, as are the challenges. Although there are a lot of tricks to do, I seem to only pull off a hand-full of them. The world is big and finding a cool spot to session is fun, but gets old after a while. He doesn't seem to ollie high enough. Riding halfpipes and bowls are not explained at all (or I haven't found it yet). There is a sweet spot between getting air on a halfpipe, jumping completely out of the pipe, stopping on the rail to grind, or just getting out of the pipe the correct way. This seems to take the fun out of the pipes for me. I recommend researching forums to get a better idea on controls. You can create your team of skaters, what they look like and what they wear, create your company and even upload a custom logo to the game. I wish the replay editor was more accessible!!!!! Most of the time I am always replaying and slowing down great tricks over and over. It pretty much works like skate 2.All in all the game is fun. If you liked skate 2, you will definitely, absolutely like this. Aside from the dislikes above, they are in no way deal breakers, and for $20 (or $60ish complete)you're crazy not to.This game is more realistic than Tony Hawk's games. Those are like something out of science fiction, stringing 600 tricks in a single ollie, plain stupid. Although no game to date really, truly, compares to my favorite skating game of all time "THRASHER SKATE AND DESTROY" on the original playstation. I still have it and still play it on my ps3 from time to time.
