ProsAbsolutely adore great stuff. I’ve never used it in construction or plumbing settings, but it works great in aquariums/terrariums! I made the base of a terrarium background with it (WIP) and it held on well!! You can cut it off with a blade very easily, as well as just pull and scrape with your fingers. Very good at being waterproof though!!ConsIf you don’t use the whole can in one sitting, it’s really hard to get the rest out (in my experience). I had to get a whole new nozzle just to use a can that was half empty, and even then it struggled. The insides were all dry foamed up! But if you use it all, great product. (And maybe I’m just dumb and didn’t do the reuse part right lol)

Hi, in addition to being a homeowner DIYer, I have several BPI certifications and teach residential and commercial energy conservation, which includes air sealing and insulation. If you are considering using mono-component foam for more than one very small job, be aware of a few related facts. Firstly, mono-component spray foam expands very little, no matter what kind you buy. If you need more expansion, you have to get a bi-component product such as Tiger Foam (to spray wall cavities or rim/band joists). Secondly, the spray bottles you buy at the Home Depot should be used all at once and not stored for a long time before using or they get clogged. This is true even for the ones rated "reusable". Thirdly, these products are typically not fire-rated. Dow Great Stuff Pro needs its own dispenser gun. You can get the least expensive of the 3 which costs around $30 and will last you a long time if used correctly. Hence, this product is more expensive at the beginning but it has the following advantages: the foam is fire-rated; MUCH better dispensing control in terms of bead size and consistency; no overspraying when you release the trigger; the same bottle can officially stay on the gun for 1 month but users report that they are having no problems after 6 months. Two final points: spray foam is the best air sealer and insulation on the market but is expensive. For larger jobs such as open wall cavities, consider laying down no more than 1" of foam first and then adding much less expensive bat insulation on top of it. Do not underestimate how wickedly sticky this stuff is. DO NOT get it on your (good) clothing, skin, hair, glasses, etc or else. I found that Amazon is the right place to get foam and gun in terms of price and availability.This foam cures with the moisture in the air. In dry weather, moist (not soak) the cavity you want to fill with a light spray of water before applying the foam. You will get twice as much expansion and no voids.

I used these with the applicator and have left them on the applicator for a month and they still work just fine. It is a lot cheaper than the other cans that have the cheap straw and are only good for a few hours.This is closed cell foam and has an R rating of 6-7 per inch. I have filled some narrow but deep cavities and feel confident that it will stop any air from moving through the area. It is also great for sealing around rigid insulation.

I bought this stuff several years ago to use on my rock structured waterfall on my pond. When I started the waterfall this spring I was losing a lot of water and suspected that the cause was gaps in the rock stacks so I grabbed this stuff out of the cabinet and tried it. In short, it's great! It expands a lot so think about where you're shoving that nozzle, but it fills in and you can cut off the excess with a serrated knife. It sticks to everything, especially your hand so use some vinyl gloves. I was able to clean up the nozzle, the tube on the applicator and my hands with acetone (my hands not so well so I recommend gloves). You don't have to dry out the surface just turn off the waterfall because it can't be applied in running water. I'm very happy with it.The exposed spots from the original waterfall building are aged to a nice black and fit in nicely like dark moss (shown in photo). Make sure that you shave back any exposed parts with a serrated knife to get rid of that shiny grey/purple look and try to hide it with rocks.I read some of the negative reviews and honestly I can't imagine what they're using it for to get those results. It's called Great Stuff Pond & Stone, so it works great for this application.
