By far the best out there. I use pine tar to make soap. I fell in love with Pine Tar soap after trying Grandpa's brand. Grandpa's is smokey and those that are made with the much less expensive pine tars available in the horse care aisle are smokey too. This stuff smell like pine - yes a pine that has been extracted from a kiln, but recognizable as pine none-the-less. Much more pure smelling than the others. Not too thick - it can be poured easily. I would not recommend for horses as there's no need for something this costly (in my opinion), but for soap, I'd recommend nothing else.

Gives soap a smokey sent.This is the only PHARMACEUTICAL grade pine tar that I could find for safe use in personal care products like soap and salve.Be an informed consumer. All other brands state on can or on website that it is NOT SAFE for human use.(Photo shows soap lighter than it actually is. It is more of a darker, wet coffee grounds colour.)

We use this in our medicinal Pine Tar Neem Soap and it's great quality & works wonders on various skin conditions (in the soap, do NOT apply directly to skin!). I've made pine tar soap before and during the long, long drying process the smell was not pleasant. It always smelled more petroleum bases than plant based. This pine tar was strong out of the can but the smell was more natural. Now that my bars are drying, I can smell them but it's not unpleasant. It's summer time now and I keep my tar in the cool basement, however I was still able to pour it from the can. I will buy this product again.
