Works great to remove stains on old quilts
I have used this product on two quilts that were over25 years old and had been stored in a cedar chest. Both had rust colored stains that a professional dry cleaner was unable to remove. I simply bought a small one piece hard kiddie pool, filled it with water, added this product, and placed the quilts individually in the solution and allowed them to soak for three days. I then removed them, placed them in a washing machine and washed them without detergent. Afterwards, I placed them in a dryer. They both came through the process in immaculate condition with all stains removed.I should say that both quilts had been constructed with new material when they were made and had never been used since being made. For an older, worn quilt, I would suggest line drying instead of using a machine.

Exceeded Every Expectation
If you have a vintage quilt to wash, this stuff is your best friend. I needed to launder a 75 yr old hand pieced and embroidered quilt that was heavily soiled from being stored in a hoarder's house. I looked into sending it to a fabric conservator, but the cost would have been $350 or more with no guarantee of success. So after doing some research, I purchased this product, a large clear plastic Sterilite box and a package of Tide color catcher laundry sheets. I washed the quilt in my backyard. It took two days to soak, one day to dry, and my great-aunt's quilt looks as beautiful as the day she sewed the last stitch. There was no fading or dye run at all. This product truly worked a miracle and helped salvage a family heirloom I honestly thought had been neglected and destroyed.

A great product
Really works, and is safe even for fragile antique textiles. I used it on a badly yellowed 250-year-old linen tablecloth, which it whitened perfectly with zero damage. It also saved a pair of white pillowcases with crocheted cotton lace made by my late mother.

Saved my quilt.
This product is amazing! This antique quilt was covered yellow spots, additionally had an overall dingy look. I followed the instructions exactly, placing it in a large clear tote covering it with correct amount of product to water, weighing it down with one gallon water bottles and covering it with the lid. I put it in the back yard in direct sunlight as instructed. After 48 hours I took it out and washed it. As you can see it took out all the stains and yellowing.

Works about as well as Restoration, doesn't remove odors though
I buy a lot of vintage linens at estate sales ... normally I use a combination of Restoration and/or Biz and/or OxyClean to get them clean, but I thought I'd try this product as the Restoration I normally use was listed at something like $800 for a bucket, LOL. I purchased this for about $18 for a one pound bag, which IMO is too expensive. I was surprised at how small a one pound bag actually is.It's really difficult to say if it restored the linens as well as Restoration because each piece is different, but I thought it did a good job. I soaked a bunch of linens (hankies, pillow cases, kitchen towels) overnight and there was a big difference when they were done. A few pieces still had some stains/discoloration, so I did another soak in Biz for those and between the two of them, just about every spot/yellowing/browning was gone.I did notice that this product didn't get the musty smell out of the linens at all. Biz did a great job at that, though. You do want to be sure that whatever you're trying to clean is color safe or risk having it fade or run. One of my pieces, a child's apron, had a color run (red) after being soaked. It wasn't really a big deal to me because I bought it for $2 and for the purpose I was planning to use it for, if it wasn't color safe it's better that I found out now. But if you have an heirloom piece, be careful.

Worked perfectly.
We purchased this to restore a 68 year old dress that my mother used for her first birthday, and then so did I. It was had sewn by her grandmother. My niece turns 1 this week, so we ordered in the hopes of having her wear it as well. It was very much stained and yellow; and came back to life 100% in just 24 hours. Easy instructions, see before and after.

Fantastic! Buy this!
I read the review before buying and thought this can't be true, but boy was I wrong and glad I went ahead and bought it. This product is amazing! I am restoring a 100 yr. old quilt top and it was a mess. Oil, grease, blood, and things unknown had stained the blocks. Also it as so yellowed from age. It smelled....bad. So I took it apart, reenforced the blocks with interfacing, patched and saved what I could then soaked the blocks in Retro Clean! They are CLEAN and the yellow and smells are gone! The fabric is still fragile but looks fresh and the background is white! I am keeping the label from the bag so I can remember what I used. I am taking the quilt top to my Quilt meeting and will show others how it worked!I whole heartedly recommend this product if you have stains on your quilt or blocks. It didn't fade the colors. It actually made them brighter. I might order a bag just to have in stock. You can't go wrong by getting some. In the picture you can see a sample strip that didn't get washed. That was the stains I was working with. Just amazing.
