Remo Produces Durable Heads
This 14" head fit my low tom head perfectly, and for a cheap price. Made in the USA, I bought this head along with a 12" and 13" and I am pleased with all three. I’ve been drumming for almost three years now and needed to replace my low quality heads that have been beaten and battered to all hell with higher quality heads with a better, warmer sound. Remo does just that.Observations:- The heads look exactly as described. I bought three drum heads; the 14" head is obviously larger than both the 12” and 13” heads.- This is your standard Remo Ambassador drum head. There’s no glossy finish. This is a simple head and it does a simple job.- It might be a given, but know your setup before purchasing and research what you need to do to produce a less muffling and in tune sound. Any experienced drummer knows this.Although my old heads were produced by GP Percussion, as that is the brand of my drum set, it is already evident to me that Remo has much higher quality heads that create wonderful sound when hit with proper muffling. I recommend these for the sound and given price. I should note that I bought this product at full price and am not affiliated with Amazon or the seller.

inimitable sound... and in fairness, set the record straight
OK there are several approaches to what is a good... after playing mostly evans on toms and BD for the last 17 years, including the new 360s, I feel the need to make the case for Remo. All my drumming years I have not found a better snare drum head than coated Ambassador... why is that? I thought it was my mind being used to or brought with that tone.Remo is not as high tech... but man, they do sound great... a tone much less plasticky than other heads... the term "warm" is such a cliché... but if there is a deserving piece of gear to give you a "warm" tone are these.Recently "good" heads are those that any idiot can tune in 3 seconds... But after using these in all toms tecently I have to say RESPECT.I have all kinds of batter heads I use... Evans G2 clear and coated, Ec2, REMO vintage Emperor, Ambassador coated... all have their good qualities... this review is more geared towrads those in doubt and with a perception that these are obsolete or limited heads... it is a complete 180° from that. These are the most versatile and musical heads there are... Totally.

Classic and excellent!
Evans & Aquarian are fine, but I'm a Remo man! I've always used a coated Ambassador on my snares, and I suppose I always will. Never been disappointed!

Great but Evans is better
This head has great sound, and I was satisfied with the quality and price. After a couple weeks of moderate playing, the coating had already started to come off in the center, which doesn't really bother me but I know some people don't like it.Soon after I got this head, I bought an Evans UV1. The Ambassador is good, but the quality, durability, and sound of the UV1 far surpasses the Remo head.Bottom line: All hail Evans as the greatest drum head makers in the universe try the UV1

It's the same good trusty ol' wonderful Ambassador
It's a coated Remo skin. Can get tight and tasty near the rim, or produce a big fat dead blow. Nice scritchy-scratchy brushes sounds. Detunes so very well for that 'bwaoouuiing" noise. You can even put these on your toms, at the very least doubling your fun! And they're cheap enough that you can bang the crap out of them with little financial consequence if they split.Remo's quality hasn't changed appreciably during the 15 years I've been playing, far as I can tell, so there's zero reason I can't recommend this skin. There might be some more boutique pieces, but why, unless you're doing super serious session stuff in the studio?

The Perfect Snare batter head to replace the My Mapex Piccolo Snare 13 X 3.5 Snare
I was uncertain what batter head to get for my Mapex Piccolo snare drum 13 X 3.5 inches. The delivered head was marked as a Remo Head, but the type as not specified. I called Remo directly, they said the stock head is a Remo "Knockoff" but it is a Remo Ambassador single ply coated (a Litle hazy coating). I installed in easily and it tuned easily too. I like Piccolo Snare Snap, which it delivers. I rated it 5 Stars but really don't know about longevity / durability yet. But it feesl solid and well made. Highly recommended.
