My Wife absolutely loved it
My Wife's guilty pleasure is good quality Cognac.I usually but her a decent bottle of Courvoisier VSOP for Christmas, but this year a went a little higher and bought her this.It came in a stunning presentation box, with a certificate. My Wife was really taken with it and said it tasted fantastic and was ultra smooth.Well worth the extra money.

A lovely gift
This is a pleasantly smooth cognac to drink. It is maybe a little on the expensive side to be a regular purchase, but it’s perfect for a special occasion or a gift. The bottle is unusual as it has a wonky top, and it comes in a very attractive box. A lovely purschase for Christmas time!

Simply gorgeous, rich and decadent.
This is a beautiful cognac. The description and tasting notes on the Amazon webpage describe it perfectly. It tastes old and rich with definite seville orange, fig and vanilla notes. It has a long warming finish in which the sweet and fruity flavours wash over your palette with more than a hint of decadence. The antiqued box adds a sense of great age and sophistication. If I received this as a gift at Christmas I would be delighted. On the other hand you may just want to spoil yourself - you know you're worth it!

Classy Cognac
Unfortunately I got my taste for brandy on family holidays to Spain in the 90s when you could get a 'reasonable' (litre) bottle of Spanish brandy for £3! This was very sweet and caramel tasting. This Cognac is in a completely different league with a much more complex taste, it doesn't have that cloying sweetness but is still smooth and not at all harsh and you can clearly taste the grape base. It also comes in an impressive wooden box so would make an ideal present - however I'm already quaffing mine!

A superb grand champagne Cognac.
A superb Cognac, a real find and exceptional value. The colour is dark honey with sparkles of amber. The nose is clear with definite history an import with preserved fruit, mellow vanilla and rare woods. The palette is long, smooth and has the characteristic taste of grande champagne with complex notes of pure spice, clear grape, and clinical strength. This is a cognac to be respected and savoured. Lovely presentation in a nice wooden box, the bottle is sealed and really looks the part in the classic twisted bottle shape from JP Chenet.

Very little taste and lots of burn. An expensive pub brandy.
The bottle looks quite novel with the bent kneck; we're paying for the presentation box, so it will reduce the quality of the cognac because of the extra cost of packaging. Nevertheless, I gave it a go.Sadly this is by far the worst cognac I've purchased from Amazon, and I have bought many at slightly lower and much higher prices. There is very little in the way of flavour and no length. The spirit is intense and burning, not smooth and inviting for another sip - or glass. I will use it for cooking. To me, it was a waste of money. The company should be ashamed to call this an XO cognac, more like a cheap pub brandy.I now believe this could well be the cheap JP Cheney brandy they sell on here for £16.95. Same bottle, different label. Probably a marketing con. After the Second World War, Joseph Helfrich started producing the Comte Joseph brand in the distillery that he had taken over from his father René.In 1979, he founded Les Grands Chais de France, which grew into one of the largest wine producers in France, with JP Chenet and Calvet as prominent names. In 1987, the spirits department was placed in the hands of a team of specialists under the leadership of cellar master David Schneider.Range: VS, VSOP, XO, Hors d’Age
